Mary spent the rest of the day avoiding being alone with Pepper. It was a little hard when Peter left for patrol."So when school starts, are you planning on moving back into your apartment?" Pepper asked as she was scooping ice cream to give Morgan.
"Wait. You still own the apartment?" Mary said looking up from her book.
"Yeah. Tony never wanted to sell it. Your furniture and stuff is all in there."
"Oh well then I'll probably do that. I know Peters going back to live with May when school starts. You two will be okay without us?" Mary asked closing her book.
"Of course. You two will just have to come visit. Oh your old car is in the second garage as well. I'm sure you'll need it to get to school. Keys are in one of the drawers in your room." Pepper said handing the bowl of ice cream to Morgan.
"Oh sweet he kept it!"
"He kept everything Mary. Though he would never admit it, at least not to me. But he always thought that one day there would be somehow an opportunity to get you and Peter back." Pepper smiled. Mary Jane smiled as well. "He thought he had accepted the fact that you two were gone but he never really did."
"It seems like it." Mary replied
It got quiet for a moment. Until Morgan noticed the palpable sadness.
"Mary do you want a bite of my ice cream." Morgan asked shoving a chocolatey spoon in Mary's face.
"Sure." Mary said taking the spoon and smiling at Morgan. "Thank you Morgan." Mary said giving back the spoon.
"
Come watch Sponge Bob with me." Morgan said grabbing Mary's hand."Okay." Mary said following her into the living room.
"Where does Peter go at night?" Morgan asked cuddling next to Mary on the couch, lazily eating her ice cream.
"Well he goes out in New York to stop bad guys." Mary replied.
"How come you don't go with him?" Morgan asked not looking up at her but watching the screen.
"Well he's more of a solo act. It's just Spider-Man not Spider-Man and Mary Jane." She laughed.
"But no one is allowed to know Peter is Spider-Man okay Morgan? It's a secret." Pepper said sitting on the chair diagonal from them.
"It's a secret?" The little girl asked.
"Yes. We don't want anyone bad finding out who Spider-Man is." Mary said.
"Well how come you know Peter is Spider-Man then."
"Because I am the person he trusts the most." Mary said.
"Oh that makes sense."
Mary went to bed that night, not being able to fall asleep. School was coming up. Does everyone know what she did? Will people treat her differently. The whole world knows that she's Tony Starks daughter now but surely they wouldn't know what she did to maple twine park.
She could hear Peter quietly creep into the dark room. Pressing the button on his suit to make it fall off, and putting sweat pants on.
"Hey Pete."
"Jesus you scared me!" Peter whisper shouted making Mary laugh. "I didn't realize you were still awake."
"Of course I am you promised we would lay and talk like we normally do after your patrol. Well did. Five years ago." She said opening her arms hoping he'd lay his head on her chest. He smiled and laid on her.
