The following day Mary picked up Peter to go school shopping."Ya know it probably wasn't the smartest idea to wait till the day before school starts to buy all our stuff." Peter said as they stood in the practically empty aisle.
"Yeah.. they have to have more stuff. I mean there's no way there is no pencils in the store." Mary said looked around.
They spent an hour in the store looking for any school supplies to only come up with several stakes of loose leaf paper and a few boxes of pencils.
"Oh! They emailed us our locker numbers. I got C103" Peter said reading his phone.
"I got A147. Why are they so far apart. Well I guess we can see each other in class." Mary said. She got a text on her phone- it was from Brad.
Brad- what locker number do you have? I got a148
"Well shit." Mary said reading the message. "Brad's got a locker next to me." She looked up at Peter with an unamused face.
"Flash just posted his number on his story, C102." Peter said with the same unamused face.
"Of course the two people we don't want to talk to ever have a locker next to us." Mary said laughing dryly.
"Oooohh Ned just texted me. Him and Michelle have one next to each other. Theirs is in the same hall as you though so that's good!" He said cheering up. "I'll just carry everything in my back pack!"
"All your books, your lap top, and you suit?" Mary raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah it will be fine! I rarely used my locker last uh well last time we went to school." Peter awkwardly chuckled.
Mary had a hard time falling asleep that night. She eventually did but it felt so cold and empty. She woke up early and got ready for school. Instead of texting Peter, she just went straight to his and May's apartment to get him. May answered the door."Hey Mj! Good to see you. He's in his room getting ready. I think he misplaced his laptop. Why don't you go help look."
"Okay. Good to see you too!" Mary said stepping into the apartment heading towards Peters room. She slowly opened the door. He didn't seem to be in it.
"Oh hey Mj!" Peter said standing upside down on the ceiling.
"Jesus Pete you scared me. What are you doing up there?" Mary giggled. "I can't imagine you left your laptop on your ceiling."
"I was just pacing- just a little nervous for the first day back. I'm trying to trick myself into thinking the nerves mean I'm excited but so far it's not working." Peter said hopping off the ceiling and grabbing his bag. "Okay I'm ready!" He said assuring her towards the front door.
"Good luck today you two! Your going to need it I'm sure it's going to be chaotic." May said from the kitchen.
"Uhh thanks may!" Peter shouted back.
The car ride was quiet, both of them nervous for they didn't know what to expect. Stepping into the school for the first time really made her see that it had been five years. The halls were different color, littered with drawings of Tony Stark.
"Oh wow this is really nice." Peter said looking at all of the Tony Stark related memorial paintings and drawings. "What one is your locker again?" Peter said. Mary got even more nervous, seeing tony's face everywhere unsettled her.
"Uh to the right. I think." She said quietly looked at Peter. He grabbed her bag for her, he normally carried her bag for her at school. Mainly to flex his strength subtlety.
