Tori could only hold down her smile as she patted Matt’s back. She didn’t get to watch his match, since it was right after her’s and Aaron’s, but she did hear what happened. It wasn’t funny, but at the same time it kind of was.
Matt, for his fight, was paired with Echo, a Mech user. A good strong combination...unless they were paired with two water users.
Echo, who didn’t have the strongest Mech form, merely short-circuited once water hit him. That left poor Matt to deal with two water users who had free range of their powers.
Matt couldn’t even deal with them with his Runes, due to the two soaking the arena. In the end, after knocking one out, Matt made the mistake of activating his Runes, knocking his last opponent out...along with him.
It apparently made it the first time since the school was created where no one won a match, which made the situation even funnier.
“I can’t believe I did that…” He whined out, fiddling with the infirmary’s bedsheet.
“I can.” Lexi nodded.
Faintly, she heard Aaron snort, who was on the opposite side of the room, checking on Echo, even though he swore up and down that, ‘no, we’re Echo and I are not friends, you dorks! Stop looking at me like that you idiots!’
“but...Babe…” Matt turned to face her, and Tori didn’t even need to see his face to know he was giving the puppy eyes.
“Sorry,” Lexi gave a smile that said the opposite. “But I can. Since you did. I love you..but you can be an idiot.”
“I panicked!”“I know.” She nodded. “Which is why by next year we’re going to fix that.”
“So I am going to be able to beat you?”
“Fat chance.” She bopped the top of his head. “Just to make sure that you don’t do any stupid mistakes again.”Matt merely grumbled. “I’m surrounded by smart people...not fair.”
“Oi! You’re smart, you lack common sense.” Lexi said, at the same time Tori just said. “I wouldn’t say that.”
Rubbing the back of his head, Matt huffed. “Not sure if I ever want to get a pep talk by you if hitting is how you do things.”
“Then don’t say self-deprecating things.” With a nod, the conversation was over.

“Why?” Was the only thing Slade asked, staring at the area feeling done with the world and all the chaos it brought.Gizzy and Ryan at least looked sheepishly at him, each giving their own version of an apologetic smile. (Ryan’s look more like a promise for more chaos however.)
“Our bad?” Gizzy offered up, while Ryan merely said as he stomped out a few stray fires. “Whoops?”
“We really should have seen this coming…” Benji, the small fairy (still, what???) sighed.
While Gale and some others went to take care of the Ice Giant things, Slade went and talked to the king (second king?), Alpha, about the whole situation and how they were going to get back. Along with the fact they instigated a literal high school student to rule the land. Slade wasn’t the happiest about that.
Slade really regretted taking the job position as a teacher. He should have realized the whole next year or two would be chaos since Ryan and his band of friends were there. Though he wasn’t expecting another kid that has chaos following him.
So he followed the little fairy to where Alpha was and had a lengthy talk.
They were going to have another one soon including Gizzy and discussing the idea of lightening the workload. Considering the fact that he was doing two years of school in one, learning how to rule a land while simultaneously being half a king and all it’s duties.
Then, on top of that, the leader of a group of fighters (basically knights) that help protect the land.
The only reason why he didn’t go with Gale and the others was because they were there. The thought of one of his students risking his life didn’t settle well with him either and learning the history of what recently happened to this place didn’t help that fact either.
Since apparently, while Ryan and them dealt with Pred, Gizzy and his friends here were fighting an actual, literal demon. Since, you know, that’s a thing in the world too! Then he found out the reason why everyone reacted to Ryan’s Fire Runes (magic, being what they keep saying) like they did was because the last person who was able to control fire released said demon! He could see Ryan doing that, but more for fun then, you know, ending the world.
Slade felt a headache coming on just by the sheer amount of stress and information that was around him. Belatedly, he then realized that he left Ryan, alone, in a new world with Gizzy, who knew the world inside out.
Considering last time Ryan and him were separated he fought some weird cannibal things, Slade had the right to be worried. Even more when he was told by some townsperson that he saw the two in the training area.
Because that’s always good to hear. Two superpowered teens practicing without supervision.
Slade is so going to take a break after they get back and go home.
That’s how he was led out by the small fairy, who rested on his shoulder and pointed which direction to go. Slade wasn’t too upset about that. Flying everywhere had to suck.
Soon, the directions lead him outside the back to a fairly decent sized circle that had small fires flickering about.
The only one he saw was Ryan, Fire Runes activated and knife unsheathed, tense and looking around warily. It was at this moment Slade remembered that Gizzy also had Shadow Runes, meaning Gizzy was somewhere hidden in the shadows. He cleared his throat, and Ryan jumped while Gizzy stumbled out of a nearby shadow.
“Why?” He offered.
That’s how they ended up there, Gizzy merely offering an explanation as Ryan stomped out a few smaller fires and tossed his hoodie on the larger ones.
Since apparently the fabric is fire proof. Slade didn’t want to know how and why it was made that way. Considering his Runes and his friends, Slade wasn’t too surprised.
He really can’t wait to get back home.
