Matt was excited, that was no doubt about it. He couldn't wait to see his girlfriend crush her opponents! His excitement was shared too with his friends. Tori and Goldy sat nearby, while Ryan and Tina were slightly farther off in the same row. Glancing over at the two, he didn't enjoy the feral grin he could see on either Tina or Ryan.
He heard a few stories of when they would be working together (or against) when they were younger, and Matt just assumed both of them calmed down.
That didn't seem to be the case. That seemed to be the exact opposite really. Feral grins and wide eyes, fighting spirit and strong determination; Matt was praying he didn't go against them. He knew when he was going up, he just didn't know who he was going against.
He could go hand to hand with Ryan, no doubt about that, but add Tina to the mix while he only had Echo as backup? No offence to Echo, but he wasn't the strongest.
Matt shifted in his seat, glancing around at all the people that filled the stadium. The place was packed, even more so than last year. Anticipation filled the air, weather the people were going to fight or just watch. Everyone was excited, even if it was early in the morning. To the point where Matt could just see the sun peaking over the horizon.
He gave another glance at Tina and Ryan, which was pretty easy considering they were on the same row, just slightly separated by other people. It seems like this would be the only morning Ryan was actually awake and hyper already. Another sign to hope that it isn't them Echo and he goes against.
It was the day after all the pairings were announced, meaning that today was the day the competitions began, and everyone was just waiting for the announcement to ring out. Signaling the start of the 'Pre-Olympics' as all the teachers were describing it.
Would have been useful had they actually described what the Olympics looked like.
"HELLO ACADEMIES!" A voice, Thomas by the sounds of it, announced. "THOMAS HERE FROM LIFE ACADEMY, WITH THE DEAN AND HEAD SCIENTIST FROM TERRA ACADEMY, DUDE TERRA AND UNICORN!"
Matt heard murmurs, mostly being around Unicorn's name.
"Hello my dude." Ah, that must be what Dude sounds like.
"Hello everyone." And there was Unicorn.
"NOW, I'M PRETTY SURE YOU ARE ALL HYPED UP, BUT WHO'S IS READY FOR THE GAMES TO BEGIN?!"
Loud cheering erupted from the crowd, Matt joining in, only to somewhat pause when he noticed Tina and Ryan's cringe at the loud crowd surrounding them. Ryan probably is not awake enough to deal with it, and Tina has literally heightened hearing.
More loud cheering followed suit.
"THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! NOW, RULES! I'M GONNA HAND THIS OFF TO ONE OF MY FELLOW ANNOUNCERS!"
Groaning followed suit with that one.
"Just a review, it's nothing too long." Matt gave a small chuckle. It seems like Unicorn is the one that they keep passing the rules too. "For the first game it is going to be a simple 2v2, nothing too chaotic and messy. We kept the field as grass for this round, but don't expect it to stay that way for the rest of the time. As you can see, there is a white circle in the center of the arena, that is where compatents will be fighting. That is the boundary. If, during the fight, you fall out of the circle or become unconscious, you are out and will not move to the next round. There is a time limit for each round, if the time runs out and neither whole team is out, anyone in and conscious will proceed. No severe maiming and no life threatening moves. If you break those two rules, severe punishment will follow."
"NOW WHO IS READY!?"
Cheering followed suit once more.
"Now, let's give a round of applause for the two teams my dudes." Dude Terra spoke up. "We have two teams from Terra and Life Academy going against each other this bright morning. On Terra, we have Clark Sparrow and Heather Sweet!"
"AND ON THE LIFE SIDE, WE HAVE LEXI VELA AND PIP WARFIELD!"
Warfield...That sounds familiar.
Movement caught Matt's eye, and he glanced over. Ryan and Tina were sitting ramrod straight, and had a sudden variation of emotion on their faces. Tina, she looked ecstatic, but Ryan, he looked to be between angry, confused, and horrified.
Do they know one of the Terra kids and why does Ryan look conflicted? Usually he gets along with everyone but Aaron...
Matt had a lightbulb moment. Warfield! That's where he heard that name before!
He paused. Does Aaron have a brother no one knew about?
"When I count down from three, the match will begin." Unicorn's voice floated overhead. "In ten minutes, the match will end. Competitors, please step in the circle."
Matt watched as Lexi and the others stepped in the circle, staring right at each other from across the area. "Three. Two. One. Go."
The competition began.
---
Sorry its short, but that had to be done before the fights begin! Hope everything will go a-okay...
Now, here is the pairs that you guys know of so far.
Lexi - Pip
Matt - Echo
Ryan - Tina
Tori - Aaron
Now, if you guys have any ideas for people, since I suck at creating them, I will gladly look over them.
Also, if you guys have any team-based competitions, like capture the flag, that would also be useful.
That's all for now peeps!
