To say Ryan was slightly nervous was an understatement. Usually, when he gets told to stay behind, it's not a good thing. So he stayed behind, watching Unicorn and Sabre leave, sending worried looks in his direction. He waved them off, and slipped his phone back in his pocket. Last thing he wants is to burden them with his problems.
Then again, you're too weak to hold them on your own.
I was wondering when you were going to rear your head back up.
Aw, is someone loney? Not surprised with how well your 'friends' have been treating you.
What do you mean by that?
You can't tell me how you haven't noticed that they've been treating you differently. Lexi and Matt have been hanging out by themselves without you, and Tori's been acting like you're going to break any minute.
Lexi and Matt are a couple, they're expected to hang out alone.
A hand on his shoulder knocked him out of his mental conversation. Petra stood there next to him, looking worried. "Sorry." Ryan apologized. "Thinking."
Petra instantly looked relieved. "The amount you do that is worrying, you do know that right?"
Ryan waved his hand through the air, like he was trying to swat away the worry. "It's fine. I just get easily distracted with my thoughts. So what's up?"
Please be something good, please be something good...
"Well, there's a few things on my mind that have been bugging me for a bit, and another one was just added."
"And they are...?" Please please please be good!
"The first thing is nothing too bad. Stop looking so worried." Petra took a seat across from him. "Ryan, what's your IQ score?"
Ryan blinked and felt the worry drain from him. That was way better than what he was expecting. "Dunno," He gave a shrug. "Never took the test. Even if I did, doubt I could actually pay attention for long enough."
Petra gave a frown, one that made Ryan feel some worry come back up. "You're going to make me aren't you?" Ryan groaned out.
"Honestly, that is a maybe. How long have you been at that level of math Ryan? I saw your schedule, why haven't you just advanced to the next classes?"
"My friends," Ryan stated instantly. "I am already a year above what I should be, and don't feel like advancing that any further really."
Ryan didn't know what else to say, after all, that was the reason why. Sure, if he didn't skip ahead when he was a child, he would've never met Tori, Lexi, and Matt, but he didn't feel like moving even more ahead. He liked his friends. "You're a year above?" Petra stated slowly, like he was trying to figure out the meaning.
"Ya, like skipped a grade? A year above?" Ryan shrugged. Not so bad. I shouldn't have been so worried.
Petra just seemed to stare at Ryan, before groaning into his hands. "That would've been nice to know. Moving on," He paused, taking a deep breath.
"When you- When you first found out about your Runes Ryan, I'm pretty sure..." He took another breath. "I'm pretty sure you heard Unicorn tell us that you take-"
"I'm not telling you." Ryan interrupted. Of course! He yelled internally. Everything has to go downhill so quickly!
Well duh, it's your life.
"I'm-" Petra shook his head. "That's not what I was going to ask, but I figured as much. I was going to say that you do know any medication has to go on your file right?"
