Tori wasn't sure how long she sat there. The quietness reminding her of her home. She hated it. She wished Ryan would jump up and be completely fine. A joke. A prank. Something harmless, not something that could kill her crush.

Her sight went blurry. In seconds two cool streams of water went down her cheeks. This couldn't be happening. Her life seemed to be slowly falling apart. Her dad is disappointed in her, her mother doesn't care, and now her crush was dying. Add on the fact that Ryan has been keeping a whole ton of secrets about his past, and whatever this medicine talk is about, she wasn't feeling the greatest.

She her empty hand a wiped away the tears. She needed to be strong. Strong for Ryan.

Dapping the rag on his forehead, occasionally wiping down other parts of skin that showed. Though that wasn't much if you thought about it.

Sooner than she liked, the rag was warm, so she dunked it into the cold water Lexi brought her. Cold water hit her hand as she dunked it in the water. "Come on Ryan. Just hold on." In response, Ryan groaned and barely cracked his eyes open.

"How you feelin'?" Tori asked softly, wiping his forehead once again.

Ryan just stared at her, his face showing obvious confusion. Once the words actually settled into his brain, Ryan groaned in response. "Hurts and cold. Very cold." He managed to say, his voice clearly strained before settling into the dark pits of unconsciousness.

"You'll be alright." She murmured. To herself or him, she wasn't sure.

Matt's POV

I ran out of Tori and Tina's dorm with lightning speed. I could hear my heart in my ears. A dull thump with the sound of blood rushing past drowning out all noise. I knew I have to hurry; people who have high amounts of Runes have severe consequences when they go through build up.

I quickly went through the list of adults that would hell Ryan. Petra, Amelia, Thomas, Slade. Damn, four people, great.

Well, that Alfred dude has been often seen talking to Ryan. He might help, but I wouldn't like to bet my friend's life on it.

Where's the close place that could hold one of them? The place popped into my head almost immediately. The lab. Three out of the four people are often seen in there.

I skidded to a corner and quickly ran around it, only to hit someone. Thomas. Thank the gods above and the devil underneath. "Matt! Is everything alright?" Interest was in his eyes, but completely vanished in second of me looking at him.

Did I looked that bad?

I was panting, sure, but seriously? I was trying to get enough oxygen in my body. I run often, just not dead out sprinting. That's Ryan's thing, not mine.

"Ryan-" pant. "Build up." pant. "Unconscious." That should've gotten the point across clear as glass.

Thomas' skin turned three shades paler. "Where?" He had urgency in his voice, while his runes, the shadow runes, flared up.

I took another deep breath. "Tori's dorm."

"Matt! Thomas!" A voice that belong to my girlfriend called out. In seconds, she stood by us, panting like me. "Ryan-" She glanced at me. I nodded to her. No need to explain.

Thomas grab my sleeve and I knew what was next. Oh no. Everything felt weird, like I was compressed into something tiny.

Then we were outside of the girl's dorms. I hate that teleporting feeling. It makes you feel all nauseous. Like you were on a tilt-a-whirl for a week in the dark. "Come on!" Lexi cried out, running back up the stairs. How can she recover so fast?
