Slade POV

It didn't seem long after Ryan had the panic attack and ran that Amelia found me, asking for help to search for Ryan. My thoughts were a jumbled up mess when they were explaining the situation. So many questions filled my head, but they were for another time.

We were in the nurse's office, Petra, Amelia, Matt, and I. I should should've been surprised how quickly Matt got injured, but I couldn't. I dealt with them all last year, I know how they are.

It was clear Matt was irritated at his ankle. Amelia healed it from it being broken to just being twisted, but she couldn't do anything else, unless we wanted to cause confusion throughout the first years. That wasn't good enough for Matt though. Matt wanted to help search for his friend, but he was forced to sit, unless he wanted his ankle to get worse.

"Where do you think he'll be?" Petra asked.

We already searched a bit of the school, but we couldn't do much once the bell rang, and all the students flooded out. If we couldn't find Ryan without the students blocking the way, how the hell would we with them there?

Matt shrugged. "There's a lot of places he can hide. It's Ryan." With that, he began typing on his phone. Maybe telling Lexi and the others?

"There are a ton of places! It's so fun to hide in them and scare people!" Amelia agreed.

"I can check-" Petra began, only to be cut off by Matt.

"The dorm's roof." He declared.

"Excuse me?" I found myself asking.

How the hell can someone get on the roof?

"He's on the roof." He flipped his phone to show us the screen. He wasn't talking to Lexi or the others, he was talking with Ryan.

"Oh! The roof is so fun to get up there! So much climbing!" Amelia seemed way to happy for the situation, but she's always like that.

I sighed. "I'll go see. I'll probably bring him to the lab, not here though." What the hell Ryan?

Activating my Runes, I concentrated. Which dorm roof though? Probably the guys. I felt the tale tell sign of the teleportation. I've always hated doing that.

I appeared on the roof. It was about how I imagined it. Concrete and really nothing else. An A/C, that's about it. "G--d -o- i--o-. --st-d ti-e to ru- --ay no- -ook." I heard behind me.

The voice sounded warbling, like I was hearing it underwater. It sounded way to deep to be human. I spun around, ready to fight or flight. What I wasn't expecting was to see Ryan there, looking absolutely unsure of what to do.

He looked absolutely exhausted. His eyes were droopy, and his hair seemed to be messier than normal. That's not what caught my attention again. The black, smoky, humanoid shape next to Ryan was what caught my attention.

It was what I seen when I told Ryan about what happened to his runes, and what I didn't say.

I forced my eyes to focus on Ryan. I don't need to look insane right now. I'll figure out what that, that thing, is later.

"Dear god Ryan, what the hell?" Act like I wasn't seeing the black smoke of doom next to him.

It was hard to not look at whatever that thing was, and I found my eyes constantly drifting towards where it rested. "I'- -ea--ng. T-ll me w-a- h-ppe-s." It spoke again. Could Ryan hear it?

If so, well, that's a problem. Especially with what's going on with his Runes. Having the Fire Runes was extremely rare, plus the issue...

Ryan is either extremely lucky, or extremely unlucky.
