Ryan sighed, staring down at the words on the page in the book. Illustrations pointing to several things blurring together as boredom kicked in. God, it was like a reading assignment for English.

After Gizzy and he shadow traveled back to the others and showed them that ‘hey, here’s a dragon’, it was pretty packed full from there.

First, since apparently the best way to determine the type and species of a dragon is from the egg it hatched out of, followed by what the dragon looks like, they made sure it was truly one.

They were pretty surprised when they realized that it was a true Water Dragon, considering that Gizzy and him were nowhere near the nearest body of water (not including the wells that dot the town) when they found her. It was quickly determined by how small her egg was (and her) and the fact that she wasn’t anywhere near ‘home’, her parent’s probably, since that she was the runt of the litter, dropped her egg in the forest to die.

What’s a better loving gesture from a family member then them wanting you to die?

No one was really sure how she survived, but she did and won’t leave him alone now. The little demon was currently trying to attack his hand, but basically every body part and the bed wasn’t working for her. Her wings kept knocking her off balance, her tail kept tripping her, her neck would get tired so she’d just face plant into the bed, and since they were chilling on the bed Ryan ‘slept’ in, the fabric kept making her slip and tumble over.

It was a pretty good distraction from reading the book, which was basically an overview of all dragons, each having their own little section. Since the little demon wouldn’t leave him alone or let anyone get close to him, they pretty much handed him the book and said good luck and that he’d have to raise her.

He could see how Gizzy became prince (half king, whatever) if they just handed problems over to kids if it involves them.

Slade wasn’t too happy about that, but relented after they fail to separate her from him for the 40th time in a row. As he said, a little demon.

His friends would love her.

He named her Fiore (Fee-o-ray), and was 85% sure Slade knew what that meant if the slight confused look he received, along with the English translation, mouthed to him.

Maybe he should pick up the Italian again (though he would hate every minute since god he loved that family) just to annoy Slade if he knew it.

...maybe that’s why he overhears some teachers calling his friend group the ‘Chaotic bundle’. Fiore, the little demon, would fit right in.

Fiore already looked different from when she first hatched. Dots, either in a straight line or in tiny triangles, slowly began to appear on her scales. Large lines of dots went up both sides of her ears, down her tail, up the back of her wings, and the most obvious, a large circlet on her head.

That wasn’t the only thing. A large webbing popped up from her back, going from the top of Fiore’s head all the way to the beginning of the tail. Tiny webbing sprouted from the sides of her front legs, just right near her webbed (but still clawed) feet. The last thing was the large singular webbing that popped up from her neck, circulating it, only breaking for the webbing that went down her neck.

The coloration, however, stayed the same. Besides the dots, those were like the webbing.

Stretching (which looked like oddly like how a cat would stretch) Fiore yawned, showing off small little daggers of teeth, before jumping up, and burrowing herself into his hoodie pocket.

Sighing in relief and misery, he was able to turn back towards the book. Just gotta get throw this.
