NOTHING FEELS THE SAME

Chapter 19

Mark and Emma sat there with Caroline cradled in Mark's arms for about half an hour. Gary hadn't moved or even said a word to them, he just stared at Sam. Eventually Caroline woke up and started to cry. "I need to get her home Mark" "I know, but we cant leave Sam here by herself" they whispered so they wouldn't disturb Gary. "She's not by herself, she's with me" Gary kept his voice quiet, it was deep and husky. "Gary mate, how you feeling" Mark tried to keep his voice quiet too but Sam was starting to wake up. "Like someone drugged me" Right stupid question. "Errrr..." "Mark take your two home, little Caroline shouldn't be here and Sam will be fine" "Only if your sure Gaz"  "Yeah, just come see me tomorrow or something, im sure ill be here" "Alright then Gaz, see ya mate"

Not long after Mark and Emma left a group of doctors and nurses came in. "Mr Barlow we need to move you" "Huh?" "Since you came in you have been in the same position, it's bad for your body and your health if you remain in the same position for to long with the antidotes we have running through your system. Also Mr Barlow, we have large amounts of fluid going in to your body, when you need to urinate please tell us as the lab would like a sample to run for any toxins the blood test may have missed" "I, ah, ummm, sorta need to now" Gary didn't notice that Sam was now fully awake beside him. "Well as you can't get up we will use this thing we have" "But ah no, can't I try and get up?" "If we let you up, we wouldn't be doing our jobs. If you moved too much now, the sudden blood flow throughout your body would rapidly increase and you would probably have a fatal heart attack" "oh.." "Mr Barlow, this is normal, we do it for many patients, we're highly trained in in" "But errr...." "Can i see you outside for a second please?" Sam stood up and spoke the the nurse.

They went outside, "Not long ago he was raped, ok, you can now understand why he is so unwilling" "But Miss, if we don't get this, we could miss something and anything could happen. Also with the amount of fluid that is being put in his body, it has to come out." "I know that! just go easy on him."

"Gaz, come on babe, they need to do this. I promise it will be over before you know whats happening." and it was.

The next day Mark stopped by. Sam had gone to get coffee so it was just the two of them. "Im so sorry mate, this is all my fault. If I haden't of pushed you this would never have happened" "Marko, It's not your fault, it's the nutter I have stalking me who i blame" "But Gaz" "No Mark, I'm having none of this, its. not. your. fault" "If you say so" "Ahhhh Mark! You drive me up the wall sometimes, you know!" "Yeah you told the whole world on that documentary, remember!" "Haha, oh the days......Can you do me a favour?" "Yea, sure Gaz anything" "Go and see DCI Leslie and find out how long until i can leave the country?" "What?! Why?" "i need to get away, just for a couple of weeks" "Where would you go?" "You know where" Gary smiled and so did Mark, he knew exactly where Gary would go.
