**a/n sorry it's short and shit, but it's all I could think of, so please enjoy :) jessss xx**

They were sitting in the first class section of the Etihad Boeing 777. Sam had her shoes off and knees tucked to her chest with a hot water bottle in between. She still felt horrible but she didn't want to bother Gary. He was sitting beside Sam, staring at the phone he kept juggling in his hand.

Sam looked out the window. It was well after midnight Australian time, there was nothing but blackness outside, other than the occasions. flash from the wing of the plane. They were lucky to get a flight on such short notice.

Gary got up from his seat and dropped his phone on the seat. He didn't say anything to Sam but she guessed he was going to the bathroom.

Gary tried to look normal as he half sprinted to the bathroom. Soon as he locked the door behind him he launched at the toilet bowl and emptied his stomach. He was worried about his mum. He felt tears running down his cheeks as he curled up in a ball and hugged his knees. He sat there and thought about his mother, about the last thing he said to her, his earliest memory of her, all the times she told him how proud she was, how he regretted not showing her off to the world like Rob did, and finally he pictured her face and wondered if he'd ever see it again.

He rubbed away at his eyes, not caring what he would look like when he returned to his seat.

There was a soft knock at the door "You okay Gaz?" Sam whispered. "Yeah, I'll be back in a second" he pulled himself up and looked in the mirror. 'Shit, Barlow you look like a mess' he ran some water and splashed it on his face. He stared at his reflection before flushing the toilet, drying his face and heading out.

"Gary are you ok, you've been gone over half an hour!" Gary glanced at his Rolex, it was 2:36. "Yea, I ummm, drifted off for a minute or two" he lied. "Don't lie to me Gary, you look like shit, your eyes scream crying and you smell like vomit, I know you" he sighed and looked away. "Is it your mum?" He nodded. "Gary for all you know when we get back she could be waiting for us at the airport" he huffed in disbelief. "Just, come here" she pulled his face onto her shoulder and brought her feet up to rest on his knees before wrapping her arms around him and pulling him close. She let him get comfy before starting to hum to him 'm mmmmm, m mmmmm' "You sound like crap and you don't know the words" Gary smiled into her. "Well then, feel free to sing to me" he tilted his head up and whispered "cos iiiiiiiiii, need tiiiiimmmme, my heart is numb has no feeling" he paused and swallowed before continuing "so while I'm still healing, just trrry, and have a little" "Patience" Sam finished for him.
