NOTHING FEELS THE SAME

Chapter 90

Leslie's pov

Fuck. I spin around and sprint to where Rosie is being held. They're trying to get her out, I just know it. Fearless bastards. I almost run into people rushing out as I keep my focus on getting to Rosie.

I turn the corner and see her being dragged by two men. She's got blood coming from her nose and she looks like she's been knocked out. "Hey! Stop!" I yell and un holster my 9mm, drawing it up and aiming at the two men. They drop her and aim their own weapons at me. Shit. "Drop em!" I order but they move their fingers to the trigger. I'm left with no choice. Aiming at one of their shoulders I shoot. He drops his weapon and falls to the ground. I repeat the process, aiming quickly at the other one and shooting him too. But the one on the ground has reach for his weapon again. "Don't do it!" I warn but he refuses to listen. He pulls it up but I quickly take a shot. The bullet pierces his chest, almost straight through his heart. He coughs and splutters and eventually stills.

"Don't try anything" I hiss at the other. He raises his arms in surrender and stays still. The gunshots have drawn the attention of the police and soon I'm not alone. They cuff the one still alive and drag Rosie back to her cell. I stop one of them on they way past "give me your radio" I say, and he obediently hands it to me. "Listen up guys, keep at what your doing but discretely be on the look out for the main suspect in the Barlow case. I have reason to believe Max Cooper is in the area." I give the radio back and head to check on Rosie.

I'm not even at her cell when I'm stopped. "Ma'am, we have him!" An officer yells down the corridor. "What, really?" I ask in disbelief. "They're processing him now" he says and walks away.

I don't believe it. I follow him to the processing area and standing at the desk in the one and only Max Cooper.

Ellie's pov

"I'm not sure Maddie, I don't think he can handle it." Leslie wants me to bring in Gary to identify Max but I don't think he's up to it. "Ellie, just go tell him we have Max then talks to him then tell him I need him to come in. Call me when your coming" Maddie says and hangs up. Fine then.

I go in search for Gary and find him in the little nursery giving Lily a bath in her baby bath. "Gary?" I knock on the door before I walk in. "Hia El, coming to help?" He raises his eyebrow. "Er no thanks, I need to umm, where's Sam?" I change what I was going to say. "Gone to see Chloe, relax one of your vegetables has gone with her" he smiles and turns his attention back to Lily. "Oh..." I mumble staring out the window. "What's up?" He asks. "We've got him Gary" I say bluntly. "Got who?" He asks, clearly confused. "Max Gary, they've got Max." I say a little to sharply.

He drops Lily in the bath and her head slips under the water. He's actually frozen, totally not moving. He hasn't even noticed his baby is drowning in front of him. Oh god. I shove him aside and pick up a screaming Lily out of the water, wrapping her in a soft towel. I start moving around with her styling to soothe her but its clear she wants her dad. "Gary" I hiss at him. I honestly don't think he's blinked. I walk over to him and raise my hand to slap him. I swing, and just as my hand is about to connect with his face he raises his hand and grabs it. He turns and stares at me dead in the eyes. "What do I have to do?"
