NOTHING FEELS THE SAME

Chapter 74

"Where have you been? Anything could have happened to us!" Gary whined as Ellie entered the room. "Err, sorry it got a bit hectic in here for a bit and I wanted to disappear before you tried to kill me too" Ellie shrugged. "Nice one" Sam laughed "Do you wanna hold her?" Sam asked Ellie. "Errr, if your sure" Ellie said reluctantly. "Of course" Sam smiled and called Ellie over with her hand. Ellie slowly moved beside the bed and took the baby off Sam and cradled her in her arms. "What's here name?" Ellie asked as she beamed down at the little sleeping baby. "Lily" Gary said from the corner of the room where he was sitting texting. "Awww, how cute. She's adorable guys" Ellie smiled and rocked the baby around a bit.

After a few moments the nurse came back into the room. "I'm terribly sorry, but the samples and recordings I took from Lily before seem to have gone missing, so I'm going to have to do them again" She apologised. "What!" Ellie asked and came to a standstill with the baby. "They're missing. They must have been misplaced" She shrugged. "Freaking hell!" Ellie gave the baby back to Sam and pulled out her phone. "Don't touch that baby or I will shoot you! Hear me!" Ellie screamed and went out of the room.

The nurse looked like she feared for her life and hadn't moved a muscle when Ellie returned. "Right, I've called in some back up and they're going to watch you while I look at the security feeds. Bastards must be on camera somewhere." Ellie sat in the chair and ran her hands through her long hair. "Am I missing something?" The nurse asked with a small voice. "For gods sake read the papers!" Ellie slammed her hand on the arm of the chair. "Sorry, I'll just go" The nurse turned on her heals and left.

"Ellie you can't be sure it's them, they could have just misplaced them" Gary sighed and came over and rubbed her arm. "Oh don't be stupid! It's a bloody first class hospital, they don't lose things!" She said through gritted teeth. "Well when can we leave then?" Sam asked from the bed. "Earliest is tomorrow, and you have to have a nurse with you. Lily was premature so if your going to take her out you need a qualified nurse" Ellie shook her head. "I think it's better if you stay here. It's safer for her. We can just move the security detail over here. It's not ideal, but we can make it work" Ellie sighed in defeat.

"Sam!" Chloe screamed from the door. She ran to the bed as fast as she could and almost jumped on it. "Show me! Show me! Show me!" She smiled and tried to look down at Lily. "Well if you sit back and calm down you can hold her!" Sam laughed and pushed Chloe away. "Okay" Chloe took a deep breath and held out her arms. Sam plopped baby Lily in her arms. "Awwwww" Chloe smiled with tears in her eyes, "I can't wait to have mine!" She sniffed and passed the baby to Rob who had not sat beside her.

"Ello cutie, what's your name then?" He asked, playing with the little hand that was reaching out of the blanket. This baby wasn't going to sleep for a while. "Lily" Gary said again. "Awww, great name man" Rob slapped Gary on the arm before passing Lily back to Sam. "So the boys really wanna come but they said they can't make it today. Well that's Dougie and Jay. Mark is gonna bring Emma and Caroline around later this evening. But Dougie and Jay will come around tomorrow." Rob smiled and nodded his head. "Great, thanks Rob" Gary moved and sat down on the bed beside Sam.

"Darling!" An elderly voice called from the doorway and Sam looked up to see her mother and father. "And that's our cue to leave" Robbie grabbed Chloe and dragged them out. "See ya's tomorrow!" Robbie called on the way out. "Now now, where's my granbaby?" Sam's mother asked. "Right here, mum this is Lily Barlow" Sam handed Lili over for what felt like the millionth time.

"Awww, she's a perfect blend of the two of you!" She rocked Lily around before passing her to Sam's dad. "What a cutie. This ones going to be trouble" He raised his eyebrow and said to Gary. "I can't wait sir" Gary wrapped his arm around Sam and rested his head on her shoulder. "How you feeling babe?" Gary asked her quietly. "Exhausted, she was a lot of work!" Sam sighed and kissed Gary's hair line. "Errr, who's this?" Sam's mum asked pointing towards Ellie. "Oh that Ellie, our personal body guard" Sam said casually. "Hi" she smiled. Sam parents just stared at her for a while, an awkward silence filling up the room. "She's a child" Sam's mother whispered. "I was younger than her when I started doing what I do." Gary defended her. "Yes but singing and playing the piano isn't going to get you killed!" She hissed. "Tell that to John Lennon!" Gary raised his voice causing Lily to cry.
