NOTHING FEELS THE SAME

Chapter 26

Gary was pulled out of his sleep by a faint noise in the distance. He slowly stirred awake and glanced at the clock, 3:26am. He heard the noise again, it was real. "Sam" he whispered "Sam do you hear that?" He turned to face her but she wasn't there. 'Maybe she's getting a drink or some pills' he got out of bed and quietly walked to the door. He froze to the spot.

Someone was going through their stuff. A man wearing black. 'He's back he's back ! Oh god help me pleaseeeee!! Where is Sam!!!' Gary started to panic and stealthily ran over to the bedside table and grabbed his phone before heading to the bathroom and quietly locking the door. Gary sat with his ear to the door. He heard the creak of the floor as the man entered the room. His shaky hands tried to unlock his phone, but his shakes caused him to hit the wrong numbers. After 3 tries he finally managed to unlock it. He dialled without thinking and rang Sam.

"Gary, you should be asleep babe" She chirped away at the other end "He's here" Gary's voice was barley a whisper. "What!? Gary where are you?" "Hiding, bathroom" "Gary don't move I'm coming" "Hurry"

"What's he doing Gary?" Sam was out of breath and Gary could tell she'd been running. "Looking through stuff" he slumped to the ground and curled up in a ball. Tears started running down his face "Sam, please hurry" he sniffled. "Babe, I can't come any faster. Listen I'm going to hang up and call the police ok, but then I'm going to call you right back so make sure your phone is on silent" "Okay, hurry"

There was a massive crash outside, yelling and lights flashing everywhere. Sam hadn't called him back, that wasn't good right. Gary got up and retreated to the bath where he crouched down. There was no weapon for him to defend himself with, so he took what would help him stop being hurt again.

The door handle twisted.

Gary held the razor blade against his wrist.

The door started being pushed.

Gary pressed the blade into his skin.

The was was broken open.

And Gary pressed harder out of shock.
