No Way Home spoilers ahead! Read at your own risk!
You never thought being kidnapped and used as leverage would become annoying, but when this was the second time it happened in a week, you couldn't really help how you felt. You held on tight to Vulture's claws, wondering amidst your annoyance how he got out of jail. It didn't matter tho, with the chaos that had been happening recently. You heard on the news about the Statue of Liberty being 'attacked', or something like that. It looked fine from your high up vantage point, however, so you had to wonder what the news even meant.
Feeling a rush of air knock Vulture off balance, you grabbed onto his claws tightly, not willing to fall the hundreds of feet to the ground due to the villain's mistake. You glared up at the villain, wondering why he chose you. And why the last villain chose you. There had to be some reasoning behind the choice, because being chosen once as a hostage was unfortunate, but twice in the span of a week? There had to be something going on.
Vulture set you atop a tall building you didn't know the name of, and you clung to the spire like your life depended on it, cuz, well, it did. He circled around you, cackling evilly just like the last guy. You glared daggers and situated your feet around the skinny spire you clung to. Once you were sure a strong breeze wouldn't throw you towards certain death, you shouted at the bird of prey.
"Why am I up here?"
"You're my bait!" Vulture stopped to hover over you. The moon glinted through his sharp wings and you grimaced. That looked like a very gorey way to go out.
"What bait? For Spider-Man? I don't think he's gonna want to save me again." You shook your head at the thought of seeing him due to these circumstances again.
"Oh trust me, he'll show up." He flew off then, leaving you to your own devices. You thought about reaching for your phone, but who would you call? You were on the top of a skyscraper, the air felt thin, and it wasn't like anybody but Spider-Man could get you down. You groaned and leaned your head against the stone spire. Think. What could you do?
It was faint, but you heard a thwip noise, and you turned to see your favorite web-slinging hero flying towards you. There was something almost familiar about him, you noticed it last time he saved you. He seemed so awkward around you, like he knew you from somewhere but didn't know how to bring it up without the situation dissolving into awkward conversation.
"(Y/N)! Oh thank goodness you're alright," he breathed, landing next to you and hugging you.
"Yeah, ha ha, sorry about this. I'm sure it's not normal to save the same person in the same week." You returned the hug, just thankful you found your way back down to the ground. As you hugged him, tho, you felt something tug at the back of your mind. Something you should know, some memory you used to know, something you needed to know.
"It's no coincidence." He grumbled something else under his breath, of which you only heard 'spell' and 'wizard'.
"Why's that?" At your curiosity, he whipped his wide white eyes to you.
"Oh nothing!" he squeaked. "Let's just get you out of here." As soon as the words were out, you were screaming,
"Look out!" He dodged Vulture's claws at the very last second, landing in his signature pose at the top of the spire.
"How did you remember?" he demanded as the bird circled him.
"Seeing you on the news just tickled something in the back of my mind." You swore you could hear his sickening grin from behind the face guard. "Then I saw your broad here and it all started coming back together."
