A scream from the bathroom startled Peter awake. He jumped out of bed and sprinted towards the source of the noise, grabbing his webshooters on the way. But as he burst through the door, it wasn't an evil villain holding his girlfriend hostage, but instead something much smaller.
You were backed against the wall, a towel wrapped around your body and desperately trying to avoid a tiny spider on the ground. It had its sights set on you, and seeing as it caught you with your pants down (or I guess not on at all), you could do nothing but scream for help. You spotted the man sighing in the doorway, his racing heart finally calming down at seeing you safe and sound. "Help me," you pleaded, letting out a squeak when the spider scuttled toward you. Peter walked over and put his hand in front of its path, letting the spider crawl onto his hand. It stayed still in his palm as he brought it to the window and let it outside.
You hugged your savior tightly. "I love you so much." He chuckled and placed a tender kiss on your nose.
"I thought you were dying."
"I was about to!" You headed into the bedroom to find some clothes. "I don't know how you can just-" You gestured wildly. "Do you speak spider?" He hid his webshooters behind his back.
"You figured it out. I'm actually part arachnid."
"Thanksgiving dinners must be really weird." You shooed him into the bathroom so you could change in private. As you were getting ready for work, he brushed his teeth and tried to fix his messy hair. He was so lucky you liked it that way because most days it didn't cooperate.
"Hey, you remember what's special about today?" you asked, glancing toward the bathroom door. He cracked it open to look at you. You blinked expectantly.
"Your sister's birthday?" he guessed. You shook your head, tutting under your breath. "What?"
"Sometimes I wonder if you forget you're dating me." You slipped on your shoes and walked over to him. "Do you remember my name?" It took a second but it clicked.
"It's date night!" He smiled proudly and you couldn't help but laugh.
"Yes, and?" You could see him physically drawing a blank. "It's our anniversary."
"Right, right! Gah, how could I forget?" He offered an apologetic smile. "Happy 2 year, honey."
"I've been dealing with this for 2 years." You made a show of shaking your head and sighing. He walked up behind you and slid his arms around your waist, resting his head on your shoulder.
"I'll make it up to you tonight, I promise." You mulled that over for a long moment, unable to stop the smile spreading across your face. You kissed his cheek and headed for the door, glancing at your watch.
"Fine, but if you're late again-"
"I won't, I swear! I'll be 10 minutes early, and I'll bring flowers and chocolates and..." He kept rambling as you just shook your head and opened the front door. You would be happy if he managed to show up on time. The number of times he straight up no-showed was astonishing and his excuses were flimsy, but you could tell he genuinely felt bad about it so you let it go.
"I love you!" you called.
"I love you too!" He waved as you swung the door shut.

On time for Peter was late, so you weren't exactly surprised when 6 o'clock rolled around and he wasn't sitting across from you. Sure you were disappointed, it was your anniversary so you hoped he'd at least put in some effort. So you asked the waitress for 10 more minutes and pulled out your phone. You fired off a text reminding him where it was and that it was, in fact, supposed to be happening right now.
