In case it isn't clear: you're a spider-woman. Also, it's embarrassingly obvious I had no clue how to end it.
"Hurry up, old man! They're getting away!" you shouted, shooting a web at a lamppost and launching yourself forward. You heard Peter scoff behind you as he struggled to catch up. The robbers ahead of you were fast, you'd give them that, but could they outrun you?
The answer was no, you decided as you flipped and landed in front of them. They screeched to a halt, clutching their stolen goods tight to their chests as they glared at you. Peter landed behind them, clasping his hands together as he walked closer.
"What've you got there?" he asked, peeking at what they held. "Is that a monitor? You must be really desperate to grab that of all things." It was a wonder the robber didn't drop it as he ran. "What were you hoping to do? Walk away with it?" The robbers didn't respond to Peter so you just sighed.
"Let's just tie 'em up and leave 'em to the cops." You stuck a web to the monitor and yanked it out of the man's hands, catching it casually and setting it gently by your feet. Peter wrapped them up with his webbing, the robbers not even bothering to resist as they knew it was all over, and after you let the police know they'd been caught, you picked up the monitor and headed back to the store.
Peter walked beside you, giving you a look. You rose a brow and he rolled his eyes. "Old man? Really?" He was only 2 years older than you but he acted like a man double his age, hence the nickname. You grinned.
"You need to get back into shape. Soon I'll be the only Spider here that can catch criminals." For a long time after Mary Jane left him he'd been letting go, but after getting pulled into another dimension, he'd changed. He was seen outside of his apartment (which shocked you) and he even joined you once more in keeping the city safe. He tried to reconcile things with Mary Jane but she already moved on. He took it like a champ, though, and didn't let that stop him.
"I'm trying, (Y/N), I'm even dieting. I only eat half a pizza for a meal, now." He smirked down at you and you laughed.
Turning more serious, you said, "You've made a lot of improvement, I'm really proud of you." His smirk formed into a soft smile.
"Thanks, that means a lot. But hey, speaking of improvement, I saw you land the flip back there. That was pretty cool." You had been trying to work on flipping through the air and landing on your feet for a while now, and you finally got it right back when you stopped the thieves.
"It wasn't that hard, I've just got terrible balance," you mumbled, trying to brush off the compliment. "You could even do it!" He snorted at that, then ruffled your hair.
"Just take the compliment you clutz." You grinned up at him as a feeling spread through your chest, something you recognized almost instantly but were nonetheless shocked to feel. Your face went red as you looked down at your feet, your grip slipping a little on the monitor.
"C'mon, we should return this then go get some pizza."
Since then exchanges between you two had been, well, awkward. Knowing the feeling you felt was love caused all sorts of internal problems for you, one of which was whether you should tell him. You didn't want to outright say it, especially since you thought he may still be hung up on MJ, but you wanted him to figure it out. So the only logical explanation was to hint at it.
What you didn't plan for was how oblivious he is.
You sent hearts in your texts, laughed at his dad jokes that weren't actually funny, brushed up against him, and smiled at him a lot. But none of it clicked. You even tried kissing him on the cheek but he took it as you being excited you managed to land another tricky move (this time it was a flip mixed with grabbing a horizontal pole and swinging around it), which may've partially been the case, but who kisses you if they're not interested?!
