Why did I name this one trash? Because it's a piece of trash :)
You played the role of Rose MacCready in Spider-Man: Homecoming, friend of Ned and Peter's. Whenever Ned was on screen Rose was usually placed right next to him, but there was one scene with just Peter and Rose, and if you had to guess that was probably what sparked people to ship the two of them. It was while he was walking home after his first encounter with Vulture; Rose had picked up the purple glowy thingy when she saw Peter coming and ran over to talk. They shared a moment andーenhanced by you and Tom's actingーfans thought the relationship was canon.
Rose was sat next to Peter on the field trip he was supposed to go on in Infinity War and wished him good luck when he swung off towards the giant flying donut. You had seen one person comment that Rose should've given him a kiss for good luck and you silently agreed. Who wouldn't want to kiss Tom Holland?
Fans have been shipping both Rose and Peter since Homecoming, as well as you and Tom. You once looked up your ship name and found fanfiction galore. You may or may not have read a couple but the point was: they shipped you hard.
So that brings us to now. You and Tom are about to be in a live interview with who knew how many fans watching. It honestly made you nervous, not because of all the people watching but because you didn't know what kind of questions you'd be asked. You would bet every dollar you made in Homecoming that at least one would be about (Your/Ship/Name) or Pose. You talked to Tom beforehand about what you should say but he said he'd handle it.
"And here comes Tom Holland and co-star (Y/N) (L/N)!" the interviewer announced as the two of you entered the room. You each waved to the camera and sat on the chairs placed a few inches too close to each other. "I just want to tell you what an honor it is to meet you two," the lady began.
"Aw, thanks," you said, smiling nervously. You shifted to sit on your hands, the shake in them noticeable. Normally you'd get nervous right before the interview but once you were sat in the chair of importance you grew calm, but the nerves didn't seem to be leaving this time. Tom glanced at you, his eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"Ok, first question: what was your favorite moment on set?"
The questions started off easy, just general stuff you'd ask a cast. You were able to take your hands out from under you because the shakes calmed down. Eventually it got more personal. What's the scariest thing you've ever had to do for a role? How many movies have you been in? Who was your favorite actor/actress to work with? The answer to the last question was each other, to which the interviewer smiled.
Then the fateful question was asked. "Many fans ship the two of you together, they even have a name for it: (Your/Ship/Name). What do you two think of that?" Tom leaned over and kissed your cheek.
"It's nice to know they approve of our relationship," he answered calmly. You couldn't help but wonder how many people were going crazy right now.
"You- wait, what?" The lady's jaw was left open as she tried to think of something to say.
"We've been dating for the past couple weeks," you explained, taking Tom's hand in yours. He smiled at you.
"You- you have?" Her jaw dropped more, though you didn't know it was possible. You waited patiently for her to move on and ask another question, but when she couldn't, you leaned forward in your seat.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, just...just give me a moment." You nodded and leaned back, exchanging a worried look with Tom. Finally she was able to collect herself and continue. "Do you think Rose and Peter will get together in Spider-Man: Far From Home?"
"I could see it." You shrugged.
"I'd like that." Tom winked at you. A corner of your lips lifted as you shook your head.
"It's up to the screenwriters."
After a few more questions the interview was wrapped up. As soon as the camera stopped rolling the lady approached you two.
"I ship you two, so seeing it come true, I just- thank you." So she was a fan. No wonder.
"No problem," Tom replied.
"Can I get a selfie with you two?"
"Of course!" You nodded. You two moved to either side of her as she got out her phone.
She took a couple pics then pulled away. "Thanks so much!"
"Nice meeting you," you called after her as she walked off. Tom faced you.
"That went well."
"Yeah. But now everyone knows we're dating."
"Is that a bad thing?" He pulled you closer so your faces were inches apart.
"I suppose not." He leaned down to connect your lips.
Little did you know the interviewer saw and quickly snapped a picture. Within an hour that picture would be posted online and everyone would know. But you didn't know any of that, at least until your mom sent you the picture and asked who that cute boy you were kissing was.
