The ability to walk through solid objects doesn't really sound like that great of a superpower, but consider this: you're in a fight. The other person throws a punch that you have a 1% chance of dodging. What do you do? Become a ghost so their fist goes right through you, then while they're in shock, go for the sensitive areas. Or what if you want a snack but are too lazy to go downstairs and get it? Simply phase through the floor and you'll be standing in front of the fridge. Now it sounds a whole heck of alot cooler, doesn't it?

With this power, you took to the streets of Queens to dispose of criminals that wandered the city, preying on innocent citizens. You chose the name (Superhero/Name) to go with your feared persona on the streets. The suit was still in the works, but you were thinking (Color) with a (Color) lining, and maybe some kick-butt boots.

Being a superhero had some great perks, like recognition among people and the joy of helping someone out of trouble. You could say you felt like a celebrity. Your ego couldn't possibly get any bigger, and the pride you felt couldn't be rivaled, though there was one thing that....well, could be thought of as a downside. You had, what someone might call, a competitor. Spider-man.

Now Spider-man had been around longer than you, and thus had more fans, but you figured you'd outdo him soon. Besides, you had a trick up your sleeve, a tactic he hadn't tried. Nobody knew who the spider really was behind that mask, but you...well, they'd know soon.

On Monday morning you woke your little sister and went downstairs to make breakfast. She was the only family you had left, but somehow you managed to keep the two of you out of an orphanage. She was the most important thing to you, but with your rising ego your superhero alter ego was gaining on her importance. You kept telling yourself nothing would ever get in the way of you and your sister, but the superhero business was starting to sneak into the gap.

You put some eggs on a plate as she came downstairs, yawning and rubbing her eyes. The clothes she wore were wrinkled and her shirt was on backwards. She sat down at the table and you slid the plate in front of her before helping to get her shirt on the right way. Maybe you shouldn't have let her watch that movie at 10 o'clock last night. You smiled to yourself. You just couldn't say no to her. With the reassurance that there was no way your superhero activities would interfere with you two, you used the spatula in your hand to eat the eggs still on the pan.

Glancing at the clock, you startled. You had 5 minutes until the bus arrived. You set the pan back on the stove and told your sister to get her stuff, you had to go down to the bus stop. After getting your shoes and coat on, you put her plate and fork in the sink and headed out the door. She clasped your hand in hers and swung them back and forth. You couldn't help the smile that formed on your lips as you looked down at her.

The bus arrived right on time. You let your sister get on first then followed after her. She sat next to her best friend and you kept going towards the back, looking for an open seat. You spotted a cute boy sitting alone, earbuds in his ears and staring out the window. You stopped beside the seat and cleared your throat but he didn't hear you. Nudging him with your foot got his attention and he looked up abruptly.

He pulled an earbud out. "What?"

"Can I sit here?" You gestured to the open spot.

"Oh, um, yeah." He shifted closer to the window and you sat down. "I'm Peter." He held out his hand. You found it interesting he wanted to greet you formally. Most times you and the stranger ignored each other until the bus arrived at school.

"(Y/N)," you responded, shaking his hand. He seemed a little flushedーembarrassed maybe?ーbut you just brushed it off. He didn't know what to say so he returned the earbud to his ear and went back to staring out the window at the scenery. You planned out what you were going to do to inform the whole school they were among a superhero, and the mere idea of how many people would admire you had you grinning like a madwoman. You couldn't wait.
