(Amazing) Still Got It

Yes, even some NWH spoilers in this one too. Sorry, it's given me a lot of ideas :)

"Hey (Y/N)!" a man called happily as he jogged towards you. You looked up from your desk to stare in bewilderment, trying desperately to place him as he approached. You were so bad with names.

"Hey, uh, you! Howza going?" He must've seen through your lousy attempt to pretend you knew him cuz he smacked himself in the forehead.

"Right, right, you forgot about me. I'm Peter Parker." He stuck out his hand for a shake. You gingerly took it, confused by his words but forcing a smile nonetheless.

"Nice to meet you Peter Parker. So, uh, where have I seen you before?" You swore you recognized him but every single thing you tried to conjure up about him evaded your grasp. He bit his lip for a long second, while you sat there awkwardly holding his hand, before he shook his head.

"We've never met before, my bad. I saw your...nametag." You looked down at your chest, seeing no such nametag.

"Right, uh, so! What can I help you with?" You retreated your hand back behind the desk you sat at and looked up at him.

"I heard your boss needed a photographer." He pointed back behind you at J. Jonah Jameson's office.

"Well, more specifically-"

"-pictures of Spider-Man!" the man himself yelled behind you, making you wince.

"Yeah, that."

"I've got a couple he might be interested in." He winked at you, making your eyes widen in surprise. Hiding your blush, you gestured to the office door, which was open as a young photographer scurried out.

"Don't let him freak you out, he just really likes to yell." You flashed an encouraging smile, and he returned the expression with something you couldn't place in his eyes.

"That's what you said the first time we met," he mumbled. You perked up.

"Sorry, I didn't catch that?"

"Thank you!" he spoke up, then hurried inside. You caught yourself staring after him, then quickly made yourself busy on the computer. You swore you knew him from somewhere.

By the time you finally got the attractive mysterious stranger out of your mind, he walked out of JJ's office. "I barely heard any yelling. How'd it go?" You looked up at him excitedly, unfortunately betraying your hopes to see him again.

"He said he wanted more, so I guess I've got a job." He didn't seem surprised about it but you couldn't remember the last time JJ had a photographer. {literally} "So, I know this is a little forward, but would you maybe want to join me for some coffee sometime?"

"I usually don't date coworkers..."

"I'll quit if that'll change your answer," he piped up immediately. You giggled.

"I was gonna say: but I'll make an exception for you."

"Ok good because I need this job," he laughed.

"Ok, be honest with me: how did you know my name? I swear I've met you before." You leaned toward Peter, staring with brows creased in an attempt to unlock his secrets. He laughed. The two of you were on a date, your third one this week. Yeah, you know, very out of character for you, but there was something about him you just couldn't get out of your head. The two of you were on a walk, nobody around to bother you but the passing cars.

"Well I could tell you, but I don't know if you'd believe me." Just looking at his face, you knew he wanted you to beg for him to tell you.

"Come on, the worst I can do is run away screaming."

He snickered. "You've already done that."

"What?" Your eyes went wide.

"I'm joking, I'm joking. Kinda."

"Peter-"

"Ok I'll tell you." He beckoned you closer and you leaned forward eagerly. "You know about the multiverse theory?" You nodded. "Well it's true. A couple days ago I was pulled into another universe where there were two other Spider-Man, er, Men."

"Wait so the multiverse theory is real, and you're Spider-" He put a hand over your mouth.

"I haven't blown your mind yet." He grinned, the excitement clear in his tone. "I was pulled there by a wizard because there was a break in the multiverse and I came through. With my two brothers, we took on villains I've faced in the past, as well as ones Spider-Man #3 fought before." As he spoke, his hands animated his words and he practically started skipping he was geeking out so hard. It was kinda cute to watch. "It was awesome! And I got to meet Spider-Man #1's friends, and his Gwen..." He trailed off. "Her name was MJ. She fell, and he couldn't catch her, but I saved her. (Y/N), I stopped what happened to me from happening to him!" The joy returned to him just as everything came back to you. You remembered what he told you about him being Spider-Man, how he tried to save Gwen from her untimely death but he just wasn't fast enough, how he couldn't let it go. He got his redemption. He could finally forgive himself for her death.

"Good job baby!" you shouted, hugging him tightly. "I'm so proud of you." You missed the tears in his eyes as he squeezed you back.

You weren't sure how long you two stayed like that, but by the time he pulled away, he had composed himself. "I missed you." His words were soft, barely above a whisper.

"Why didn't you tell me right away? Why did I even forget you in the first place?"

"There was a split in the multiverse but the only way to stop it from spreading and getting worse was to make everyone forget, across every universe."

"That must've been a little awkward for May," You laughed.

"Yeah, just a bit." He shook his head. "I thought she was gonna beat me senseless with her slipper, but she remembered before the ambulance had to be called."

"Why didn't you tell me straight up like her? Like don't get me wrong, I love when you take me out on dates, but why not just explain it right away?" He took your hands gently and smiled.

"I wanted to see if you still wanted to be with me." You melted. "And if I've still got it."

"Ugh, moment ruined." You fell into him dramatically as you both laughed.

"Well? Do I still got it?"

"If you mean you're still attractive, then yes, but if you mean smooth, then no. You're still just as awkward as the you I fell in love with the first time." You made a face. "That just makes it feel weird. Let's just pretend I never forgot, ok?" He placed a kiss on your temple and grinned.

"Deal."
