"Are you serious?" you whined, staring dumbfounded at Flash. Your friend grinned evilly.
"Yes. I told you I was going to get you back for making me drink toilet water." You groaned, and while that was a mean thing to do to him, this was much worse. "C'mon, it'll only be for a week."
"Can't you just...I don't know, have me spraypaint dork on my forehead or something?" Since he won the bet, technically he got to choose the punishment. But you'd take practically anything but this if you could. He shook his head, his arms folded to show he was firm on his stance.
"Nope. One week, (L/N). You can do it." He patted you on the back and walked off laughing. Figuring you should get this stupid task out of the way, you headed toward the boy sitting with two of his friends. Strange, you didn't think he had any friends.
"Hey." You got their attention, and suddenly you wanted to back out. You knew you couldn't, Flash would know, but you'd rather drink toilet water for a week than this.
"Hey," the chubby kid you couldn't remember the name of greeted you.
"Yeah, so, Peter, I need to talk to you." Without another word, you headed away from his friends. If you were doing this it wasn't about to be within earshot of those nerds. Peter got the hint and followed you. Before he could question what you needed, you sighed and crossed your arms. It was difficult to look him in the eyes as you spoke. "So I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me." He struggled to reply, too baffled to put his thoughts into words. You grimaced, face flushed as you prayed for this to end.
"Uh, sure," he finally managed. Your head snapped up.
"Actually?" You were hoping for a quick and painless 'no'. Then you could bring the sad news to Flash and be done with this mess.
"Well I mean sure, you seem like a cool dude- person- I mean girl." His smile was awkward and his hands were stuffed under his arms. You weren't sure he wanted to be here any more than you did.
Figuring you should put a date on this date, you proposed that afternoon. "I'm free all night but if you want to do it some other time that's fine."
"No that works for me."
"Ok...where do you want to go?" You had no ideas (having expected him to shoot you down).
"How about the park? We could go for a walk...if you're into that kind of thing."
"Yeah, sure." Trying to wrap this uncomfortable interaction up, you backed up toward the library. "5 o'clock?"
"Yeah, that works. See ya." He waved and spun to return to his friends. Releasing a sigh, you entered the library and set your bag down on the chair next to you. Decathlon practice would start in a little bit but in the meantime you'd work on homework.
It wasn't long before Flash came to bug you. "So? D'ya do it?"
"Yes, so in a week I'm dumping him." You couldn't wait. "Why are you even making me do this?"
"Because it'll break Parker's heart, and I needed to get you back."
You rolled your eyes. "You have an obsession with bullying that kid."
"Yeah, well, I'm better than him. And he's a nerd."
"And you've got mommy issues." You hid your smile behind your hand.
"Hey, at least I've got a mom," he retorted.
"Ooo, ouch." You made a hissing noise like you got burned. "From what I remember she actually cared about me, though."
