This takes place after the movie, so if you haven't seen it there'll be some spoilers.
You raced down the street, ducking and dodging and weaving to avoid hitting the poor pedestrians walking too slowly for your taste. You clutched your camera tightly, careful not to let it so much as touch any of the objects you were doing your best to avoid. It was worth an entire paycheck at the cruddy job you were forced to work, but hopefully if things went according to plan you'd be able to get a new job that paid much better soon.
You finally broke through the crowd and screeched to a halt in front of a police barricade. Just beyond the policemen you spotted Spider-man fighting with what looked to be a giant scorpion. It had been several weeks since the web-slinger's death, but yet here he was. The journalists at The Daily Bugle believe it's an imposter, and you supposed it made senseーhe was wearing a different suit, and taking a closer look at him through your camera lens, you saw he had a different body shapeーbut some part of you still hoped it was Peter Parker.
A policewoman noticed you slowly creeping forward and walked over to tell you you needed to leave, but just as she opened her mouth Spider-man was thrown into a police cruiser. With her distracted, you ran around the line of cars and over to a collapsed building, carefully making your way up onto the debris for a better shot.
You steadied the camera and focused on the action, watching the fight while snapping the occasional picture. These were golden! All you had to do was march up to Jameson with your camera in hand, show him these shots, and he'd give you the jobーhe'd be insane not to.
Smiling to yourself, you missed the flick of Scorpion's tail sending Spider-man flying towards you. You looked up just as Spider-man crashed into you, sending you off the steel beam you planted yourself on and into a crumbled concrete floor. You coughed, the force of impact throwing dust galore into the air, and blinked several times to clear your eyes.
"Hey, are you okay?" Spider-man asked, staring at you with wide white eyes. You realized you were on top of him with his arms holding you tight to his chest. He must've tried to protect you from the impact.
"Yeah, I think so." Your mind was still trying to catch up at the moment.
"Great, cool..." The air suddenly became awkward as you waited for him to let go and he realized he was technically hugging a pretty girl. "Sorry!" He released you and scrambled backwards. You stood, brushing the rubble off your shoulders and checking your camera. He jumped onto a nearby beam and groaned loudly. Scorpion got away.
"Crap," you hissed. Spider-man turned. "The lens is cracked." It would cost more than you had to replace. At least you still had the pictures, meaning your plan could still work, and once you knew money was on the way you could buy another lens.
"Heh, that was probably my fault." Spider-man landed next to you.
"It's fine, I can buy another one." You sent him a brief smile and he felt his heartbeat quicken.
"Um, what's your name?"
"(Y/N). Now I better go before I get a police escort home." You nodded towards the police barricade where the policewoman was pointing at you.
"I can take you home!" Spider-man offered quickly. You stopped, already turning to run off.
"Really?" you turned back, your eyes lit up like Brooklyn at night. You always wondered what it felt like to be soaring up in the sky, weightless and free. Miles started sweating.
"Yeah, sure." It couldn't be that hard, right? You walked back over, clutching your camera in one hand and draping your other arm around his neck. He felt himself start shaking. He wrapped an arm around your waist and gingerly pulled you closer, the contact making his face go hot. He shot a web towards the sky, breathing in and out to steady himself. What am I doing? I can't do this.
