We all know Michelle "MJ" is going to be Peter's next love interest so

Peter and Ned were staring at Liz again. Yeah, she was pretty, but that didn't give them the right to stare creepily at her. You sat next to Michelle, seeing her too engrossed in her book to acknowledge you. You weren't bothered though, good books did that to people.

You weren't really friends with Peter and Ned but you sat at the same table as them because Michelle did. Michelle was one of the only friends you had. The others didn't go to this school.

"Guys," you called out, getting the two nerds' attention. "You're staring again." Ned immediately looked down while Peter sighed.

"She's leaving tonight, I just...I want one last look," Peter said, allowing his eyes to find their way back to Liz. You guessed you understood; Liz's dad was the Vulture, the guy about to face the court for their verdict. After everything you heard he did (some of which was false or exaggerated) you saw no hope for him.

But as much as you understood, you also felt jealous. You might have grown a small crush on the adorable dork, not that anyone would ever find out. With Liz leaving, however, you felt you might have a chance with him.

Soon you'd find it just wasn't in your future to be with him.

A couple weeks after Liz left you started noticing how Peter and Michelle acted around each other. If you knew Michelleーand you didーyou'd say she liked him. Peter was more obvious; the telltale signs of him liking Liz came back, this time reflected on Michelle.

Ned once asked you when you thought the two would get together. Hopefully that won't happen, you thought, but said "When Peter gets the courage or Michelle pulls a fast one, but I don't think either is going to address the elephant in the room."

"Yeah, you're probably right," he agreed. "Do you think we should do it for them?"

"No, they need to do it themselves." But we both know you said that cause you secretly hoped nothing would happen between them. Then Michelle approached you when you were alone and asked if you'd help her.

"With what?"

"Knocking sense into that brunet's head." She jabbed her thumb over her shoulder. You peeked around her to see Peter and Ned.

"Oh." You had to stop yourself from letting out a sigh. It was inevitable now. If Michelle wanted something she'd go after it, there was no stopping her. "What do I do?"

"Be my wingwoman when I ask him out."

"Oh, alright." There was a small tremor in your voice but you didn't think she noticed. Maybe you were reading the signs wrong and he didn't like her? You knew your chances with him just plummeted to 0% but the tiny flicker of hope in your heart stayed lit.

Michelle led the way and you trailed after her. Peter got flustered when Michelle stood next to him while Ned got excited, wondering if it was finally going to happen. You stood a few paces away, watching with sadness in your eyes. She didn't need you to be her wingwoman, maybe she was just trying to rub it in your face that he liked her and not you.

You couldn't watch anymore so you turned to walk off. It's ok, you lied to yourself. At least... You couldn't think of an upside. As you were about to round the corner, you glanced back. Michelle was kissing a red-faced Peter as Ned squealed silently next to them. You still remember the sound of your heart breaking.

You changed that day. I wish I could say it was for the better, but it was anything but. Every day you came home with something: a bruise, a black eye, a cut lip, or a note for your parents about your behavior in class. Your parents couldn't understand what happened, their good girl suddenly going rogue and getting in fights every other day, it just didn't add up. They tried to ask what happened but you refused to tell them. They tried grounding you, locking you in your room, but somehow you managed to get out. Every night you came back, worse for wear with a smell on you they couldn't place. They were getting scared one night you wouldn't come back.
