An actual INC member here.

Short Answer:
Yes, I am in a cult. Help.

Lengthy Answer:
I have been a member of this "religion" since I was born. Growing up, I felt like I was an outcast because of INC. We didn't celebrate Christmas, Halloween, Fiestas and such. I was always jealous of my classmates and friends who received gifts during December. They always seemed to have fun while I sat in the back forced to believe that these celebrations were false and untrue because "Wala po ito sa Bibliya, mga kapatid". As I grew older, it slowly became apparent to me how fucked up this "religion" is with how they treat their members.

Every church session, which we members are obliged to attend to twice per week, is basically the same as the last and the ones that came before it. The ministers spew the same shit over and over again, with differences that are just too subtle. What we hear twice per week is basically this: Ang Iglesia ay totoo at dito kayo maliligtas, Lahat ng wala sa Iglesia ay hindi maliligtas, Tuloy na manalig at palakasin ang ating pananampalataya sa Iglesia, etc. Everything else basically branches off of these.

Members are being gaslit. They are forced heavily by the church to believe in everything the Executive Minister says. We are forced to believe that the actions and decisions of the INC executives are never wrong, are always right. We are told to obey and never question the church.

Anyway, I dont want to write something too long so i'll just put down here the things that I hate about the "church".

•Bloc voting. The members are coerced into voting who the INC endorses. They give out sample ballot sheets with the names of the political candidates that each INC member should vote for.

•Abuloy. Give what you can or so they say. What they're really trying to tell each member when they say this is to "give as much as you can". The INC is money and power hungry. Look at the Philippine Arena and the hundreds of INC churches being built every year. What the hell? Why would a church feel the need to build a stadium??

•Tiwalag. With the expulsion of a member, there are a few things we members have to remember. The expelled member is barred from attending church sessions, barred from interacting with members in the church, and their names are publicly announced once after a church session. If your family members are INC and you are expelled, you are not allowed to talk to family and family is not allowed to talk to you. You are to be left alone by your family until you decide to "magbalik-loob", which is the process of returning to the church.

I don't really listen to what the ministers say and it is possible i have forgotten about some details. This info is to the best of my knowledge and if there are other members who want to get out like me, please bump up this post and try to add to it if possible. Thanks
