"I can't believe you're making me do this" I whine to my friend (y/b/f/n).
"You said you were ready to start dating again so I set you up. You'll like him. He's in his sophmore year of college. He's studying to be a doctor. Hes gorgeous" she attempts to talk him up again.
"He sounds like your average douche bag" I laugh.
"Well he's not. I promise. He's just your type" she finishes my hair.
"Based on how you just described him I'm offended that you think thats how I like my men"
"Men aren't steaks. You don't get to choose how they come you just get have to deal with it"
"I'm just saying. I haven't been on a date since Anthony and I'm nervous"
"I know you are but everything will be okay I promise" she smiles at me and I smile back. I look in the mirror and fix my dress and then slip on my shoes and fluff my hair one more time.
"Okay, I'm ready" I say and turn to her.
"You look great" She smiles at me. I grab my things and get in my car. I drive to the restaurant. What a cliche' kind of date. Dinner at a fancy ass restaurant. My first date with Anthony we went to the zoo. That was the beginning of a nice relationship that lasted 4 years until he died last year in a car accident. Every night I cry myself to sleep because his side of the bed is always empty. Maybe one day that side will be filled again. I park next to a silver dodge charger and get out, whoever owns that is a douche.
I go into the restaurant and go to the host.
"Hi, I'm looking for a Grant Simmerman" I tell him.
"Right this way, you must be (Y/N"
"Yeah" i nod my head. We stop at a table with a man that has short slick back hair and bright blue eyes. He's wearing a gray suit and his smile is bright.
"Hi, I'm Grant" he stands up and shakes my hand.
"(Y/N)" I nod. We sit both sit back down and the host hands me a menu.
"Its nice to finally to meet you. (y/b/f/n) has talked about you so much its nice to finally put a face to a name" he lets out a small laugh.
"Same here." I smile back at him.
"You're very pretty by the way"
"Thank you" I blush. This is such a generic date, its like he stole it from a sappy movie.
"I don't care!! I quit!" a man comes from the kitchen shouting at another person. He comes stumbling over to our table and knocks my water on me. I scoff and stand up as the water drips all over my dress. The mop haired man with bright green eyes looks at me and then walks out.
"You're a best server. Come back Harry" the older man yells and follows behind him.
"I'll be right back" I sigh and go to the bathroom. After our meal that consisted of him apologizing constantly and a bad server who got our meal wrong twice I go outside to my car. He follows me and I'm confused until he stops at the silver charger. Of course. Without a word I get in my car and drive off.
A day later
I'm on my way to the grocery store and the thought of last night plays in my head. It was one of the worst nights I've ever had and I hope I never see that Grant guy again. Not that he ruined the date but he sure didn't make any better and hes not my type. I pull into the store and park as far away as possible.
After 10 minutes of walking around looking things I need. I see Grant. How the hell did that happen? He's looking at a box of cereal. Small world I guess. I duck behind a soup can display and watch through the cracks. I don't want to see this guy cause he'll probably ask for another date.
"Who are we hiding from?" a voice asks making me jump. I look up at him and pull him down so Grant doesn't see him.
"Don't worry about it"
"Why did you pull me down here" he laughs.
"So that guy wouldn't see you talking to me"
"Oh, that guy" he peaks his head up to look at him and then back down.
"Bad date?" he asks.
"How did you know?" I look at him.
"I saw you at the restaurant. Remember? The guy who spilled water on you" and the world continues to get smaller.
"Oh, yeah. You owe me a new dress"
"It was water, how could you have ruined your dress"
"You aren't suppose to get water on that type of dress."
"Fine. What happened?" he asks gesturing Grant, still looking at the same box of cereal.
"You mean apart from spending 20 minutes in the bathroom trying to get water out of a 1600 pound dress?" I ask.
"Thats two things I owe you then" he smiles a cheesy smile.
"What do you mean?" I question.
"I owe you a dress and a date"
"Sure, but not with that guy" I point to Grant.
"No, with me"
"Wow, do you always ruin girls dates and then ask them out hiding behind soup?" I tease.
"This would be the first" he nods with a smile. "And don't tell me that you actually liked that guy"
"No, he drives a dodge charger"
"What a douche" he looks back over at him shaking his head.
"Thats what I said" I laugh.
"So about that date" he wiggles his eyebrows.
"Fine" I sigh.
"Thats what I like to hear" he nods. Grant finally leaves, not even getting the box of cereal he spent 10 minutes looking at. We both stand up and I look up at him.
"Whats your name?" I ask.
"Harry" he shakes my hand.
"(Y/N)"
"Cute" he smiles.
