"All units please respond, 10-62 at 47 W 47th st." Dispatch says through the radio.
"Copy that. In route now." I tell dispatch, I hang up my radio and turn my sirens on.
Once I arrive, I pull my gun out as I see a light shine back at me. 2 men take off on foot and I chase after them until one disappears. "NYPD! Freeze!" I shout as he continues to run.
"This is unit 162, requesting backup." I saw through my radio and continue my pursuit towards the man I see.
I jump over a fence and chase him down for 2 blocks until I get the jump on him and tackle him to the ground, I straddle his back and pull my handcuffs from my belt.
"You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." I utter as I put the handcuffs on him and pull him off the ground.
"Oooh, handcuffs. Kinky." He laughs, he smirks at me and I was as his green eyes light up. I roll my eyes and walk him to my car and place him in.
"Dispatch, this is unit 162. I have one of the suspects in custody." I explain. As I drive to the police station.
"You're quite cute, what's your name love?" He asks, a British accent shows through and I roll my eyes again.
"Officer (Y/L/N)" I sigh, trying to concentrate on the road.
"Yeah but what's your first name?" He asks, leaning closer to me, his breath against my neck and the hair on my neck sticks up.
"Sit back." I order but he doesn't.
"They really should give us seat belts. I get pulled over for not wearing a seat belt yet I sit here in your car with no belt? Am I going to get a ticket?" He laughs.
"Just be a quiet, your voice is giving me a headache." I'm lying, as much as I hate to admit it, his voice is really lovely.
We arrive at the station and I get our, grabbing him from the back and leading him to a cell. I sit at the desk and start filling out the paper work required.
"You know you'd be even more cute if you smiled." He says as he looks at me from between the bars.
"If you think you're going to sweet talk your way out of this, you're wrong. You robbed a jewelry store. That's grand larceny." I explain.
"You never told me your name love?" He changed the subject.
"It's nothing to you." I sigh.
"Nothing to you?" He asks. "I pegged you for more of a (Y/N)"
I look up at him with a glare, trying to hide my shock as he guessed my name right.
"I'm just kidding." He laughs. "I heard someone say your name as we came in."
"Right." I state simply and go back to my work.
"Listen love, you're going to find nothing on me. Might as well let me out now...unless you'd like to do a full cavity search?" He laughs again. That laugh is intoxicating, not enough to fall for his tricks though.
"Listen, I'm really trying to work here. Just be quiet and I'll try to get you an easier sentence." I lie, I hope he rots in there.
"I'm not going to get any sentence love, you've got nothing on me, other than I was at the scene." He points out.
"Quit calling me love." I snap. I look at the clock and realize it's time for me to go home and I smile.
"Well, I'm going home. Guess you'll have to find someone else to annoy." I sigh and leave the room. 3rd shift will book him thankfully so I don't have to.The next morning I get ready for my day, taking a shower, blow drying my hair and curling it. I put some makeup on and then a cute sun dress and head out to breakfast with my friend and coworker Stephanie.
"I arrested this guy last night, he was so annoying." I sigh as we wait in line for our coffee. "He kept calling me love and he had this thick British accent."
"Oh yeah, I hate those types. Always trying to sweet talk their way out of it."
"I wasn't sweet talking my way out of anything." I hear a laugh from behind me and I freeze in place. I turn and see those familiar green eyes staring at me.
"You." I state angrily. "What are you doing here? I threw your ass in jail last night."
"I told you, you had nothing on me. They released me at 6 this morning." He shrugs. "What am I doing here?" He points to the floor "After a night in jail I like to get a warm cup of coffee to wake me up." He smirks that smirk from last night.
I roll my eyes and walk to the counter with Stephanie.
"I'll take a tall black coffee." I tell the barista.
"I'll have the same. And I'll pay." The man from last night chimes in, squeezing his way in between Stephanie and I. "Sorry, I have no more money..." He looks at Stephanie and then back at the barista.
"That's fine." She says in her flirty voice as she stares at him mesmerized.
"I don't want you to buy me my drink, get out of my way." I snap, pushing him with my hip. I hand the barista a 5 but he takes it back from her, giving her a 10. The woman, being frustrated takes the ten and gives him back his change.
"Names?" She asks.
"Harry." He states smugly. The woman looks to me and I roll my eyes, giving her my name and moving from the counter.
"Well (Y/N)...looks like I was right about the name. And may I say, you look stunning in that dress." He tugs at the strap and I jump back.
"Listen...Harry? Is it? I'd advise you not to touch me because if you, I'll arrest you. Got it."
"No you won't." He steps closer to me, calling my bluff. I roll my eyes and walk away. "You know, you roll your eyes a lot." He follows me.
"Well I usually do that when I'm talking to an idiot" I smile at my comeback.
"Good one." He jokes and I laugh. "I wasn't kidding when I said you were cute you know."
"You don't have to sweet talk me anymore, you're not in jail." I explain.
"I told you I wasn't sweet talking you." He sighs.
"Oh, yeah. Then what were you doing?" I ask.
"Flirting, obviously."
"Flirting? What makes you think someone like me would go out with a criminal like you?" I raise my eyebrow, suddenly turned on by his charm.
"Oh come on, You've heard of cops and robbers haven't you?" He laughs.
"Yeah...so?" I ask.
"You never played the fun way did you?" He smirks.
"What other way was there? Someone's the cop, someone's the robber. The robber steals something and the cop tries to get it back." I shrug.
"Yeah but it was what the robber stole." He winks.
"What...oh! Oh! That's nasty. That's a child's game." I smack his arm.
"I played it as a teen to." He smirks again. I roll my eyes again and turn to face the counter.
"If you roll your eyes again I have to take you home and give you a fitting punishment." He whispers in my ear, making the hair on my neck stand. Unfortunately for me, I find that to be very sexy and want to take him right here on this counter...listen to me! Me, a cop wanting to commit a crime right here with a criminal. The barista finally calls our names and I grab my drink, scurrying away from Harry and sitting down.
"Sorry, I had to go to the bathroom. What did I miss?" Stephanie asks as she sits down.
"Nothing." I shrug and blow on my coffee. Harry makes me way to us and sits down, close to me-too close. He eyes my blowing on my coffee and smirks.
"Stephanie." The barista calls and she gets up to get her drink.
"That won't be the only thing you're blowing on today." He smirks and I glare at him.
"Yeah right." I laugh and take a sip of my coffee. His smirks stays on his face until Stephanie comes back.
"So. Harry, what put you in jail last night?" She asks and I sit back, here comes a confession.
"Nothing actually, taking a walk at the wrong time." He shrugs.
"You we're taking a walk at 10 at night? Near a jewelry store that just so happened to be getting robbed?" I ask, shaking my head. He nods and shrugs.Harry ends up spending a 20 minutes with us before Stephanie says she has to leave. I agree to come with her but Harry offers to take me home and I almost spit out my coffee.
"No, I don't want to go with you. You'll probably take me to rob something." I half joke.
"I really gotta go (Y/N), my shift starts in 10 minutes." Stephanie says quickly.
"Okay, I'll just walk." I tell her and she leaves.
"Why not let me take you home? I can have a car here in 3 minutes." Harry offers.
"So many reasons, I literally had you in the back of my cop car 12 hours ago. You're a criminal. And I don't know you." I point out.
"Maybe we should take the time to get to know each other."
"You're crazy." I laugh and stand up. I grab my purse and toss my trash away. I walk out the door and Harry is next to me instantly.
"I'm gunna ask you one more time, stop harassing me or I'll pull out my pepper spray." I warn him.
"You wouldn't use it on me." He smiles like he knows everything. I wouldn't though. After spending nearly an hour with him I've come to realize he really isn't that bad of a guy but he's still a criminal, even if he isn't a full time offender.
"Okay, Harry. I'll let you take me home if you answer one question for me." I stop walking and his smile gets bigger.
"Okay. Hit me with it?" He nods.
"What were you doing outside of the jewelry store, if you weren't apart of the robbery?" I ask.
He stays quiet for a while and then says, "I was at a party last night, I got in a fight and left. I was walking home when I saw 2 men breaking into that store, I stopped and watch, scared as shit that if they saw me they'd kill me. Then I saw you pull up, I took off along with one of the guys. I suppose it was a bad idea for me to run like I was guilty but I didn't know what else to do." As much as I don't want to believe him, I have to. His story makes sense but one part.
"Earlier you told me that you could have a car here in 3 minutes, so why didn't you get a car instead of walk?" I ask.
"I was drunk, I needed the cold air to sober me up and I only lived 4 blocks from the party I was at." He adds.
"Okay, Harry. Call your precious car and take me home."
"Or, we could go on a date...I mean, if you're not busy." He shrugs. I ponder the idea of going out with a man who I just met, that I met through arresting him but I have to realize he's innocent plus he's really cute and his accent is lovely.
"Yeah, Okay." I smile and he calls a car to come take us somewhere.
