It's been a full year since I decided to make this underground shelter my home. With my 4 misfit friends, we manage to still stay alive and stick together.

Harry practically being my boyfriend at this point, even though we don't believe we should give it a title. We're inseparable. We go hunting together, kill corpses and fall asleep in each other's arms.
Siri is my best friend pretty much, we get completely shit faced on big holidays and talk about our life's before the apocalypse and what we hope to happen after, if there is ever an after.
She wants to settle down with a guy, marry him and even have kids. She knows that nowadays that's practically impossible but she likes to dream.
The other 3 boys are good friends to keep around. They're a laugh really. Always being able to find a joke about something, even in the hardest of times. Like a few months ago when we almost lost Zayn to a huge thunder storm. We couldn't tell if he was a corpse or not. But he managed to call out for help when a tree fell on him. We dug him out and he had a broken leg for a week. Luckily Siri is a trained nurses aid and put him back together. That was the week Zayn and Siri fell for each other. Though they're both pretty certain it won't work out, they plan to make it last until they can't anymore. Still, they've been together for 3 months and I think they're more in love than Harry and I. If we're in love at all. We haven't said it but I don't know if it makes sense to say anything. Where we're at now is perfect.

"Hello my love." Zayn calls fo Siri as he comes in fresh, from a shower. He presses a kiss to her cheek and she smiles at him.

"Do you ever think we'll be in love like them?" Harry jokes from next to me.

"Maybe." I smile at him. He matches my smile and kisses me before going back to my book.

"I think we should get married." He says and my heart drops.

"Very funny." I try to dismiss it. I've thought of it before but I didn't think we were in a state where marriage was a logical thing. I thought we were just living our life together. Marriage is a whole new thing.

"I'm being serious." He tells me and pulls something from his pocket. A ring. Am actual diamond ring.

"Where did you-?" I ask, becoming actually speechless.

"I ran into a nomad a couple weeks ago when I was hunting. He traded me for two fish." He explains.

"Harry I don't know. How would we even get married? It's not like there's a court house or an ordained minister laying around." I explain.

"In this society marriage isn't really a thing, I'm aware but if we have one of these guys do the ceremony and you and I make up a contract and sign it then that should count. I want to make you mine, permanently." He explains. My heart skips a beat and I smile at him. He must have thought about this for a while to have thought out a whole plan.

"What would I wear?" I laugh. I always thought I'd get married to my ex boyfriend and we have a couple kids and a big house but obviously times have changed and Harry is who I want.

"Will you?" He asks again.

"Of course." I tell him and he slides the ring on my finger. "I love you." He tells me and my heart melts.

"We're getting married!" He yells to the whole shelter and I blush.

"How's that?" Siri asks, biting her lip.

"Marriage is just the label for what we're calling it. Basically agreeing to stay together until one of us-or both of us dies." Harry explains and I nod. "Solidified by rings and a piece of paper...the usual."

"Oh yeah? How do you suppose it will hold up?" Lou asks, coming in drunk as usual.

"Who will tell us it won't? Come on, support us. You're all invited." He tells them. Zayn opens his mouth to say something when the alarm goes off, meaning there's someone at the door. An actual human. 4 months Lou and Zayn perfected a way to tell if someone needed in, it doesn't pick up on corpses, it only detects heart beat. He planned it when Niall got stuck outside after a hoard of corpses came in. Thankfully Harry saved him but I almost died.

"Let's go." Zayn picks up guys rifle, the rest of us do the same and we head up to see who it is.

"Please! Help!" The voice echoes through the abandoned building we live in. When we make it to the door, we see a man with brown hair who looks wore out and in need of help.

"Stay here." Zayn orders. He waves for Niall to follow him and they open the door. The rest of us watch as the man looks at them nervously. Nods are given and words are spoken. The man looks relieved and they walk towards the door.

"This is the rest of us. You're safe with us. Trust me." Niall explains.

"Another man? Bullocks!" Lou whines. "Might as well die then, righty." He always gets more British when he's drunk, which is always.

"Calm down mate." Niall tells him.

"I will not! We only have two girls. And they're both with one of us. What am I supposed to shag then? A bloody corpse."

"Would you chill out Louis." Harry orders. Harry grabs my hand and pulls me close to him. When Lou gets drunk, he gets handsy.

When we get downstairs, the man explains that his name is Liam. He was staying in a hide out for 6 days that was miles away. This morning he woke up to find his girlfriend had disappeared. He had been running into buildings for hours hoping someone might hear him. We then proceed to tell him about us and how if his girlfriend is gone, she's probably not going to be back. And then we allow him to shower and eat a full meal.
He explains that he won't stay long, he's determined to find his girlfriend. Louis offers to go with him, we all tense up but Liam says no.

"Listen Liam. I came into the family about a year ago, thinking I wouldn't stay and I did. You should too." I offer.

"No. I won't leave Cheryl out there by herself. If there's any chance that she might be out there...looking for me too, I have to take it." He explains.

"Look man, she either left on her own or was taken down by something. If you didn't wake up to her then she's gone." Siri tells him and I can see the pain in his eyes. Siri won't apologize for that, she doesn't care about people's feelings anymore. It implies empathy.

"Stay here tonight and in the morning, if you still want to leave...then go." Harry explains.

"Fine. That being said. I'm going to sleep." He stands. He goes to the bunker room and lays down and we all talk about what we should do.
