Publicity breakup

(AU where Harry is a jerk in real life)

"(Y/N), good news, we thought of a way to get you more attention, don't worry his management has agreed. We figured it would look for both of your images. We want you to date Harry Styles." The day my management set me up with Harry for publicity is one I'll never forget. I agreed quickly because Harry seemed like a genuinely nice guy and I thought he was when I first met him but quickly his true colors came out.
6 months ago, Harry and I met and agreed that we would be a couple in the public's eye. We would tweet each other, I would post selfies of us on my Instagram, we would make sure we were seen with each other at least once a week. Ever since we've been all over the media. I've gained a million more followers because of this and it's helped me develop my image a lot more. But Harry is kind of an asshole. He is always complaining about this whole thing and saying how he doesn't need me and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I had a meeting with my manager last month about what we could do to get out of it because I was tired of pretending to be in love with him. He explained that it was a 6 month agreement so I waited the full month and now here we are and I am not signing another agreement.

"So Harry, (y/n), as you know 6 months ago you both agreed to be in a relationship for the public. Well today that contract has ended and if you don't wish to continue for another 6 months, we won't. But the agreement explains what you can do, should you wish to 'end' the relationship." My manager explains.

"We're ending it for sure." Harry says at the same time I say I want to end it. He looks at us both and then I roll my eyes at him. I look at the contract and read what I have to do next.
Should you want to end relationship, you must complete the following tasks:
Post messages to either Twitter, Instagram or both explaining that relationship ended fairly and you both are in good places.
Take time away from social media and the public eye in order to make people believe you're taking some time to move on.
If in interviews you are asked about said relationship explain a simple reason as to why you broke up that matches your social media statement (see above)
After a long enough time has passed, you may proceed however you wish.
NEVER bring up the relationship being fake or for publicity.

I sign the paper and Harry does too and I feel a sense of relief knowing that Harry will no longer be apart of my life.

"You realize they're all going to side with me and all those followers you got because of this will leave you." He mocks me and I roll my eyes. "Can I say she cheated?" He laughs, looking to his own manager.

"No, both of you are to say that you just fell out of love and wanted to go your separate ways. It was a mutual agreement." He says and Harry huffs.

"We're thinking, (y/n) will go first and then you'll wait a day or so, probably repost what she said and make your own comment." His manager explains. "Go ahead and do it now so we can approve of it." He asks me and I nod. I click on my notes app and try to think of the best break up post I can.

"I really hate that I'm writing this right now. It doesn't even seem real. Im sorry to say, Harry and I have gone our separate ways. We've decided together that it's what's best for the both of us. I will always love Harry, he will definitely hold a place in my heart but sometimes you have to let go of what doesn't completely belong in your life. I know a lot of you will be hurt by this news as some of you saw us as something special or maybe even held on to hope for your own love, I just want you to know that Harry and I don't define your love stories. You all do. Don't let this be a bad lesson. What Harry and I had was great...it just ended. That's all. There's no bad blood with us I promise, I love you guys."
Once I finish I show all of them and they all agree it's perfect so I post it on Twitter and Instagram both with a 2 hearts as a caption. I hate lying to my fans like this but I'm glad I don't have to be apart of this anymore. Now that Im at such a good place in my career I don't think I need Harry to still be successful.

"Now we wait," Harry signs and leans back. "Wait for everyone to hate you."

"I know we were never really together but I'm so excited that now everyone knows that you and I aren't anymore."

4 days later

"I decided that I'm really not in a good place to be in a relationship. (Y/N) will always have a place in my heart but we're better off as friends. Thank you for understanding. ❤️"

Of course he had to turn it into his decision. What a jackass. It's been 4 days and the response on my end has been pretty good so far. I only lost a couple hundred people. But now that Harry has posted his side I don't know what will happen.
I haven't said anything yet, I'm doing what I was told and staying away from public eye to make it seem more real. I'm waiting on the green light from my manager-Chris.
