(Um, I am so sorry. I feel so bad now that I found this that I'm about to cry. This was actually requested back in October 2020 by JKokos. Sorry it is so late. I didn't realise it had been two years. If you're still reading this, I hope you enjoy it. I can't even find the texts, so I will only be able to base it on what I already have here. I am so so so sorry!!)

(Y/n's P.O.V)

Cedric Diggory is the most gorgeous boy ever and is my best friend in my year!!! He always had girls flooding him, pushing me away. So he just asked if I would be his fake girlfriend. It's to get them to go away, of course. Though I wish it were real, I accepted. I followed him around, acting like his girlfriend. It warded off most girls. Cedric was so popular for being the Triwizard Champion, but Harry was hated for being the Triwizard Champion! Why couldn't it be the other way around? That way, I could have Cedric by myself!

I watched the first task, my heart beating out of worry as the dragon attacked Cedric. When he got the Egg, he was rushed off to the Medical Tent; I got up towards the tent, pushing past the crowd. I wasn't the only one because as I got there, I could hear the voices of Cedric and... Cho? Cho was my best friend; she knew Cedric, and I wasn't actually dating, but she also knew how much I wished we were, so when I entered the tent, I was so surprised to see Cho and Cedric kissing.

Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes as I turned and ran; I ran to the girl's bathroom. I locked the door behind me and sank to the floor. How could Cho? How could Cedric? Cedric was supposed to be a Hufflepuff; a Hufflepuff wouldn't cheat, not even on their fake partner.-------

Cedric was released from the hospital wing a few hours after the task ended and came to find me in the Y/H common room. He tried to talk to me, but I refused to see him. Instead, I ran to my dorm, knowing he couldn't follow. This went on for weeks until the Yule Ball; my dormmates had persuaded me to go, so I reluctantly got ready in my black dress and black heels.

I didn't feel much like wearing anything colourful. When I got to the Great Hall, I was awed at the decorations that had gone up. It had only been a few hours since the feast (Causse, like the fourth year down? They weren't at the Yule Ball, so they had to eat at some point. Yet, the entire Great Hall had changed so drastically; the usual sky roof showed that there was light snow drifting down; the roof was enchanted to mimic it even more; today, the snowflakes drifted down, but as they hit the floor, tables or party-goers bellow it vanished. The decorations matched the cold Winter Wonderland outside.

When the Champions came in, my gaze moved to the entrance. I didn't know what I was expecting; maybe I was expecting Cedric to be alone and invite me to dance. But he wasn't hooked to his arm; it was Cho. I felt tears in my eyes again as I looked back at my friends, who were all staring in awe at the four champions. Taking the chance, I pushed through the crowd, leaving the great hall and heading out into the cold winter air before letting the tears flow freely. It was so cold I hadn't thought about how cold it would be; I was in a bleeding dress, for crying out loud! I considered returning to bed, but I didn't want to risk seeing the happy couple. That is why when a heavy coat was wrapped around me, I welcomed the Durmstrung, who gave it to me with a grateful smile.

"Do tell me why such a stunning young lady like yourself is out here crying rather than at the Ball?" He asked in his thick Bulgarian accent.

"The guy I like is with my best friend," I said simply without hesitation.

"Then he's a dumbass!" The Bulgarian replied.

"Y/n!" I heard my name be called from behind us, making me sigh, knowing whose voice that was.

"Is that the dumbass?" The Bulgarian asked, to which I just nodded. Cedric ran over to us as the Bulgarian, and I stood up. The Bulgarian sent Cedric a glare as we turned to face him. Cedric came to a stop in front of us.

"Y/n, why have you been avoiding me?" Cedric asked me, making me scoff.

"Let's see, maybe because you kissed my best friend?" I suggested.

"We aren't together..." Cedric started, but I cut him off.

"And now we aren't fake together either. Go run back to Cho!" I saw what looked hurt in his eyes, but it couldn't be.

"Y/n..." He tried again, but the Bulgarian growled next to me.

"No! I'm sick of being your second choice, Cedric!!" I grabbed the Bulgarian's hand and dragged him to the ball; I may as well try to enjoy the night.

As the Bulgarian, whose name I found out was Ivan, and I danced, I saw Cedric return to the Great Hall and Cho return to his side. They talked for a moment and then ran out. Cedric's eyes locked with mine, but I quickly looked away. The next thing I knew, the music stopped, and Cedric was up on stage with the mic. I turned to leave.

"Y/n, please wait! I need you to hear me out! I didn't kiss Cho; she kissed me! And I only asked her to the Yule Ball because you had been avoiding me, and I assumed you already had a date. You were the one I wanted to bring to the Yule Ball tonight! Y/N, I love you!" My heart stopped for a moment, and all eyes were on me as they waited for my response.

"I loved you too... once," I said before leaving the Great Hall. The silence I left behind was defining. The only sound I could hear was my heels against the floor as I attempted to run back to my dorm.
