(This is set post-war a lot of talk about death. I'm watching ghost whisperer if that explains any of this jumble)

(Y/N's P.O.V)

The Battle of Hogwarts had been won. Not many people were celebrating; there wasn't much to celebrate, as there had been so many losses. I had returned to Hogwarts for the battle. I had seen the death and destruction and now had sat in a corner waiting for hours. I watched as grieving family after grieving family reunited and cried over their loved ones.

I was used to seeing pain and death, I dealt with it on a daily basis for work. It was so much harder when you knew them, had watched it happen.

I made my rounds walking among the living and the dead. I stopped a couple times finding people who were injured. I helped where I could with what I could and other injuries I suggested they make their way to St Mungos.

It was beyond dark before the Hall empties. I started the preparations moving the dead closer together while I waited for my coworkers. This was really the worst part about my job.

I should probably explain; Hi I'm Y/n. I'm a healer at St Mungos. The worst part of my job is dealing with the newly departed. You see I have a special gift, while certain spirits can be seen by everyone others can't.

I can see them all. It is what helps me work out how people died, if they were really dead which did come in handy for my line of business. As I moved each body onto a stretcher I spoke to their spirit.

One by one taking down messages they wanted to tell their family which I would send them a year later when they needed something to remember them by.

As I went to move the bodies of Remus Lupin and Nyphadora Tonks their sprits came to me.

"You're so kind." Tonks said turning to me.

"No, I'm not. I'm just doing my job." I told them as I flicked my wand to lift her to take her to where the others now lay one by one in rows.

"Talking to us isn't your job. Taking notes passing them to families. That's all you." She smiled at me.

"Is there any message you want to pass anyone?" I asked sitting down next to where her body now lay.

"My son, but you'll have to wait a while before you can give it to him. He's just a baby. I want Teddy to know we love him. That we wish we could be there with him. I want you to tell him about us who we are... or were." She looked sad as her husband wondered over.

"Of course. Remus what about you?" I turned to her Husband as I stand up again moving to his body.

"Tell Harry his parents love him. That we will always be watching over him. Tell Harry to tell Teddy all about his mother and father." Remus told me as he wrapped his arm around his wife.

"I will." I promised resting his body with his wife.

I moved to the final body, that of my friend Fred Weasley. The weird thing was I hadn't yet seen his ghost. I made my way over feeling his pulse.  As predicted no pulse.

"Has anyone seen Fred? He didn't even say bye to his family." I asked the crowed who were now getting ready to head into the light

"No, you way want to check the hallway where he died though." Remus was the only one to speak the others just shook their heads.

"Thanks, I'll do that." Making my way out of the great hall I apparated upstairs.

"Fred!" I called as I looked for him.

I refused to bury a body until I had seen their ghost. There are stories of people being buried alive and dying. They are so confused and disorientated that they can't apparated out.

I searched for Fred for forty-five minutes only stopping when I noticed the other Healers arrive.

I ran back down to the Great Hall to meet the others.

"There are certainly a lot." One of my co-workers Steph commented.

"Yeah, so many lives were taken from us tonight." My co-worker Walter agreed.

Walter's the head Healer.

I walk over to Walter needing to speak to him about Fred. Walter knew about my gift. It had helped us many times.

"Grandpa!" Oh yeah, I forgot to mention not only is Walter my boss but also my grandfather, my Mum's Dad.

"Yes Pumpkin?" He stopped walking turning and holding his arms out for me.

"Something wrong Grandpa!" I told him as I returned the hug.

"Are you alright did you get hurt?" He pulled away looking me up and down.

"I'm fine, it's Fred... he died during the battle or so it seems. I can't find him Grandpa, all signs point to him being dead, but I can't find his spirit." I whispered.

"Okay. I'm sure he just went for a stroll. I'll put him in your care. You can keep an eye on him till his spirit wonders back." He kissed my forehead before leading me back into the Great Hall.

"Thanks Grandpa." I kissed his cheek before running over to where I left Fred. "I'm going to look after you."

One by one my co-workers disappeared, heading for the hospital taking a body with them as they went. Until it was just my grandpa, Fred Lavender Brown and I.
