(James' P.O.V)
After speaking to Y/n last night, I couldn't sleep. A couple of hours later, I went back down to see if she was still up; she wasn't. I looked for her at breakfast, but she wasn't there.
"Hey, have you seen Y/n?" Remus asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Not since we went to bed last night, mate. I'm sure she just slept in." Sirius reassured him.
"She came down late last night; she couldn't sleep. She was still downstairs when I went to bed." I pipped up, getting concerned now.
We briefly looked in the bathroom, in other frequented areas, the library, and down by the Black Lake. I wanted to keep looking, but something didn't feel right, and we had to go to class. I would skip the afternoon classes to find her if she didn't attend lunch.
---time skip cause I'm extremely tired---
As I entered the Great Hall for lunch, I again searched the table for Y/n but did not find her. I ran over to Remus, who also seemed to be searching the room for his sister.
"Have you seen her yet?" He didn't even get to reply before we were interrupted by Professor McGonagall.
"Mr Lupin, your sister wasn't in either of her classes this morning? Is she feeling unwell?" As soon as McGonagall finished speaking, I ran as fast as possible out of the Hall and up to the common room; Remus and probably McGonagall were hot on my tail as I ran.
I tried to get to the girl's dorms, but the stairs wouldn't let me. I guess McGonagall got the hint that something was wrong because she went up while Remus and I paced around the common room.
When McGonagall emerged alone, worry etched on her face; my heart felt like it was in the pit of my stomach.
"I must inform the Head Master; we will likely go into a full lockdown." She told us, turning to the portrait and leaving.
"I'll check the Shrieking shack. You check the astronomy tower." Remus said before running out.
Oh, Y/n, I hope you're okay.
I sprinted to the tower, leaping up the stairs three at a time.
"Y/n! Y/n!!" I called.
As I approached, I heard shuffling and then silence. As I reached the top of the stairs, I finally found her. She was curled up in a ball, tears streaming down her cheeks. She looked like she hadn't slept in days.
"Y/n!" I ran over to her, scooping her into my arms.
She buried her head in my shoulder. Tears continued to stream as they soaked my robe.
"What happened?" I asked as I rubbed her back.
She didn't reply; she just kept sobbing into my shoulder. We sat silently for a while longer before she looked up, not quite looking at me.
"H... I... Pe..." She looked down at the floor.
"It's okay, Y/n, I'm right here!" I pulled her closer, wanting nothing more than to take away all her pain.
"Pe-Peter..." She finally stammered out.
"What did that rat do!!" My jaw clenched.
She shut off again. She buried her head in my shoulder.
A voice boomed through the halls, calling all students to the Great Hall.
