(3rd person P.O.V)

Y/n sat at the Great Hall. It was much earlier than she would typically find herself up, but after waking to her family's owl at her window at midnight, she had found that sleep had evaded her. Her family owl, Milo, came bearing a letter from her Mother. Y/n was surprised when she noticed it was from her Mother, not her brother.

Y/n found it challenging to communicate with her parents, so she mainly sent letters to her twin Monty, who went to Durmstrung; they were still on break so that the letters would come from Milo sometimes.

She was even more shocked to find the content. Monty had been rather unwell and hadn't informed her so she wouldn't worry, but late last night, he had passed.

(Y/n's P.O.V)

I had no one left, I had no friends, and my brother was gone. I couldn't even talk to anyone. The only person I would have turned to was dead, and the only professor not going to Hogsmeade was Professor Snape, and he hated me. I snuck down to the Lake unseen, or so I thought..... I was sitting alone in my usual place near the Lake behind a tree that blocked me from the rest of the school.

Tears streamed down my face as I cried. When someone came and sat beside me, I wiped my tears and looked down, tensing at how close the person was.

"Y/n, you ok? You're up so early this morning." It was the boy I had a crush on since my first year, Blaise Zabini.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, not looking at him, trying not to cry.

"Y/n, what is wrong? You're not yourself." He said, lifting my face so he could see it. Doubt had red, puffy eyes and a tear-stained face I was bound to have as I had been crying since I found out the news.

"Y/n, have you been crying? What happened? Was it Malfoy? I'll kill him." He said, pulling me into a comforting hug.

"Why would you care?" I ask, finally letting the tears flow again.

"Because I like you, Y/n. I mean, I like you." He said, shocking me.

"I like you, too," I say, smiling a little.

"You never answered my questions. Who made you so upset? And what happened to make you so upset?" He said, pulling me closer to him.

"It wasn't anyone at school. I received a letter from my Mother this morning... telling me..." I hesitated a few times.

"What? telling you what?" He urged me to continue.

"My twin brother Monty died." I cried, leaning into his shoulder.

"Shsh, Y/n. It's ok." We sat there for an hour before he spoke again. " Shall we go get you something to eat?"

"I'm not hungry," I muttered.

"Well, I am, so will you accompany me?" Blaise asked, standing up and extending his hand for me.

I took his hand as he helped me up. Everyone else had already left, so a few people were wandering the hall besides the few brave first and second years. We reached the picture of the fruit bowl, and Blaise tickled the pear. We walked in and immediately were surrounded by house elves.

"Hello, everyone. Dobby, how are you doing? This is my friend Y/n. Can you whip her up something special?" Blaise was friends with all the house elves.

He knew all their names and everything. Dobby and another house elf, I believe her name was Winky, disappeared for about five minutes before returning with an assortment of cookies, brownies and cakes for us, along with a steaming cup of coffee for both of us.
"Thank you." Blaise thanked his little friends.

"Thank you," I mumbled my thanks to them.

Blaise and I sat silently, eating the treats and drinking our coffee.
