(Y/n's P.O.V)

Time had flown by so fast, and now I was a sixth-year Slytherin at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a student, I knew all-too-well about the long-standing feud between Gryffindors and Slytherins. But, that hadn't stopped my heart from falling for a Gryffindor. Unfortunately, he didn't feel the same way. I wasn't alone in my feelings though, as he was admired by many. Who wouldn't love him? He was smart, had adorable orange hair, and was friendly; well, he was until the Sorting Hat placed me in Slytherin.

Ronald Billius Weasley had been my best friend since we were babies, but I had harbored feelings for him since we were just five years old. He was the kindest boy I had ever known, but that all changed when I was sorted into Slytherin. That day, my parents, brother, and best friend disowned me because of my House affiliation. They sent me my belongings the next day, and I moved in with the Malfoys. They welcomed me with open arms and even adopted me as their own daughter. As I sat at the dinner table in the Great Hall, I couldn't help but stare over at Nathon, who sat with his friends at the Gryffindor table.

Nathan had always been the favorite of my parents, as they had made clear on countless occasions. This became even more evident when they disowned me. I had always yearned for the love and affection Nathan received from our parents. He got everything he wanted, and now, I was getting everything I wanted from the Malfoys. But it wasn't the same. They weren't my real family, and I couldn't have them back. As I sat there lost in thought, Draco, my "brother," put his hand on my leg in an attempt to comfort me.

"Are you okay, sis?" he asked, concerned.

"I'll be fine. I need some fresh air," I replied, rising from the table.

Tears streamed down my face as I ran down to the Black Lake. I felt like I had lost everything that day. The lake was the only place where I could go to think. I took my usual spot and got lost in thought about my family when someone sat down next to me. They wrapped their arms around me and pulled me close.

"Y/n, are you okay? What's wrong?" I knew that voice; it was Ron.

"I'm fine," I said, pushing him away.

"You're not fine. Listen, I'm sorry, I was being a jerk. Nothing will change the fact that I care about you; I always have. I love you, Y/n!" Ron confessed, kissing my forehead before getting up to leave.

"Please stay. I told my brother I wanted to be alone, but I don't," I begged.

"I didn't see you with your brother. Or though, I haven't seen you two talk. What's up with that?" Ron asked, curious.

"Nathan hasn't talked to me since they all abandoned me," I said, trying to keep it together.

"Since they abandoned you?" Ron asked, looking puzzled.

"I thought you knew? My parents and brother disowned me, and the Malfoys took me in, so Draco is my brother now," I explained, feeling a lump form in my throat.

"Since when?" he asked, looking a little mad. It was aimed at my blood family.

"Since they found out I was a Slytherin, so first..." I started, but Ron cut me off.

"You should have told me. We would have taken you in..." he said, his voice full of regret.

"You were mad at me. Besides, Draco had offered me a place to stay, and your Mum has enough kids of her own without adding another," I pointed out.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you!" he exclaimed, looking at his hands with a look of regret on his face.

"It's fine. I'm fine. It was a long time ago now," I said, getting up and walking away.
