Hello, I'm Y/n Malfoy. I'm often mistaken for being like my brother and father, but I am very different from them. My best friend is a muggle-born, and I belong to Gryffindor's house. Tonight is the Yule ball, and Ron, my boyfriend, has invited me to go with him. However, I suggested we attend as a group because my brother, Draco, will be present, and he doesn't know Ron and I are together.
Hermione and I are currently getting ready for the ball in our dormitory. Her dress was stunning, and I had to gather all the money I could save. Unfortunately, my father doesn't understand me, and he's punishing me until I stop being friends with Harry, Ron, and Hermione and switch to Slytherin. I had no money, but my mother secretly sent some to me. It wasn't much, but I gathered enough for a simple black dress. Hermione helped me with my hair and added a clip from her trunk, making it even more beautiful. She also let me borrow a pair of friendly but straightforward heels. We did each other's makeup and headed down to the Great Hall.
All eyes turned toward us when we entered, including my brother's. He looked surprised until he saw Hermione, and his expression changed to disgust. Ron and Harry joined us, and Ron complimented me, making me blush.
"The two of you should head in; you don't want to be late." Hermione squealed, excited for her first ball after turning seventeen. This is the first one I'll enjoy in ten years.
We walked together to the nearest table. The Great Hall was breathtaking. It was like being inside an ice cave with frozen crystals hanging from the ceiling. There was a tree in every corner of the hall. The one closest to us had blue and silver decorations, the furthest one was decorated in yellow and black, and the one in the middle had red, gold, green, and silver decorations. Ron sat beside me, watching the champions enter the hall. Harry came in with Parvati, and then Hermione and Victor followed.
"Is Hermione with Victor?" Ron asked.
I joked, "Are you jealous?" But secretly, I hoped he would say no.
"Of course not. I have her beautiful best friend. Anyway, Hermione and Victor are perfect for each other. It's just that she said she would get a signature for me. I didn't think they would be coming together." I placed my hand on his under the table, aware of my brother sitting a few seats away.
"You're cute," I said, laughing.
Draco turned to glare at me, and I went silent as his piercing grey eyes seemed to stare into my soul.
"Hey, forget about him; let's join the others," Ron said, leading me to Harry and Hermione. We danced briefly before a slow dance started. I had forgotten that my brother was there.
"Will you do me the pleasure of giving me this dance?" Ron asked, making me blush. I nodded and held his hand as he pulled me close. I rested my head on his chest, and he rested his chin on my head.
Suddenly, my brother interrupted us, shouting, "What are you doing? Why are you dancing with this blood traitor?"
Everyone's eyes were on us, but surprisingly, the teachers didn't interfere.
"Because I love him!" I tried to keep my temper in check, but everyone knew that when I got angry, bad things happened. That's probably why no one interfered. Even the teachers seemed scared of me.
"YOU LOVE HIM? YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. NO ONE LOVES YOU." My fists clenched, and I had to hold myself back.
Ron pushed me back into the waiting arms of Hermione and Harry. He rounded on Draco, punching him in the face as Hermione and Harry dragged me from the room.
I had to get out of there. I shook my friends off and ran off, with my friends chasing close behind me. Tears streamed down my face as I ran. I made it to the standard room before I fell to my knees. My heels hurt my feet, so I shook them off and tried to crawl up the stairs as Hermione and Harry ran in to stand before me.
"Y/n, you can't run off. You are not alone; we care about you. Ron cares about you. We will always be here for you and never let Draco hurt you." They tried to calm me down, but it wasn't working.
Ron ran into the room with a bandage around his hand. Hermione and Harry left as Ron came to my side, holding my hands.
"Y/n, I will never let him hurt you. You know that I will always be here for you." Ron leaned over and kissed me, and I snuggled closer when our lips parted.
"I know." I already felt so much better knowing that Ron was there for me, and he always would be.
"I'll ask my mom if you can come to my house instead of going home to your family. I'm sure she won't mind." At that moment, I knew I had made the right choice and that being with Ron was worth the pain.
