(I'm so mad at myself right now. I have gotten so close to finishing this that I would have posted it last night, but not once, but three times. I accidentally deleted it and had to start from scratch. I had hoped to post this chapter and start the next one today, but that will take a while. I stayed until 1:20 am to finish it, only to stare at a blank page again. At least this one was a request! This would have been much longer than it ended up being, but I will have to cut it short because I could improve at this. But let's get into it!)

(Maya's P.O.V)
Hi, I'm Maya, Maya Hosson, a fifth-year Hufflepuff and a close friend of Hermione Granger. We met on the train in our first year at Hogwarts, where we discovered our shared status as the first Witches in our Muggle families.
We had been through thick and thin together, got attacked by a Troll with her friends Harry and Ron coming to our rescue, and both got petrified looking through the same mirror. I was the first one she told about the time turner, so I helped her glide undetected as she turned back in time. I helped her get ready for the Yule Ball.
Since the day Harry returned to Hogwarts from that Graveyard with Cedric's body, proclaiming the return of He Who Must Not Be Named, I've stood by him without a doubt. I believed him when he said Sirius Black was innocent, and I believe him now.
So when the term came, Umbitch took over as Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, and Hermione suggested Harry teach us Defense Against the Dark Arts; I wholeheartedly agreed. When signing up, my name was the first on the list.
Today is our first lesson. A couple of days ago, a boy in our grade, a Gryffindor named Neville Longbottom, stumbled upon the Tapestry of the Troll. It had been walked past by hundreds of students thousands of times, yet it wasn't until he went past that the secrets beyond opened themselves.
He walked past, contemplating the location we could use for the meetings. As he passed, a door appeared, and within The Room of Requirments, it had opened itself to us, giving the perfect space for learning.
Upon hearing of the date, we were given instructions and groups. We didn't want everyone arriving at once, as it would draw too much attention.
I made my way to the Library to meet Neville. Neville and I had classes together but only spoke a little. I first talked to him on the train to Hogwarts in my third year.
~~~Flash back~~~
I sat in a compartment with Hermione, Harry, and Ron; we were also accompanied by Professor R.J. Lupin, who had slept through most of the ride.
When the train had halted to a stop, the compartment lights flickered and went out, a cold chill spread through the compartment, the windows turned icy as our breaths turned to fog in the chilly air.
Clambering and voices could be heard from the hallway as students poked their heads out to determine what was happening.
The compartment door slid open. It was hard to make out who it was. All we could see was the outline of their figure as they slid in and attempted to sit on the seat instead of sitting on me.
"Sorry!" The person squeaked.
"Don't worry about it! Here, you can sit beside me." I say, scooting closer to Hermione.
"Thank you!" The stranger said as he sat beside me.
When the compartment opened again, a dark, skeletal hand reached in, and the person beside me jumped and held on to me. An overwhelming sadness washed over us.
Professor Lupin jumped into action, casting the patrons and sending the dementor fleeing. Shortly after, the lights flickered back on, and the train started up again.
