(Y/n's P.O.V)The summer holidays start tomorrow, and I have nowhere to go. I have no friends and, since Christmas, no family. Over Christmas break, I was home with my parents, and our house went up in flames; my parents died, and I only barely escaped with burns that have left scars all over my body. Only now is Dumbledore trying to work out what to do with me?
"Miss Y/l/n has no living family left. Her parents did leave her a fortune, but that will not be accessible till she turns eighteen. Till then, she has no home, just a few galleons, which will give her enough for next year's school supplies. We have to find someone willing to take her in, or she will have to go to an orphanage, and you remember how the last person who was orphaned at a young age turned out." I may only be Twelve years old, but I know a lot. I am an intelligent child, but I need help getting through right now. I had no one left.
"I have come to love Y/n, and I don't want her to end up like him. I have a spare room at my house that I can fix, and she can stay with me." McGonagall spoke up from beside me.
"Miss Y/l/n what do you think?" Dumbledore asks, turning to me for the first time.
"That's very kind of you, Professor McGonagall, and if it is not too much of a bother, I would love to stay with you, but I wonder why we are not discussing this with Headmaster Dippet?" Professor Dumbledore may be the Defence Against the Dark Arts Teacher, but he tends to act like he is Headmaster.
"Y/n, it is no bother. I can have a room ready for you very quickly, and you can stay with me until you find a new home and family or till you come of age. As for why we aren't talking to Headmaster Dippet, the last time someone lost their parents, they were orphaned and didn't turn out well. We only want the best for you." I nod in understanding.
"Well, it's settled, Miss Y/l/n. Once the other students have left, you will meet here tomorrow, and Professor McGonagall will take you home from there. I suggest you go get ready for tomorrow. We will inform Headmaster Dippet of your newfound home and see you tomorrow. Good Night Miss Y/l/n." I stand from the chair I sat in front of Professor Dumbledore's desk.
"Thank you again, Professors. I'll see you both tomorrow. Good Night!!" I head up to my dorm and finish packing.
I have a shower and brush my teeth. Sitting on the bed, I open the drawer, pull out a box, grab the key on my necklace, and unlock the box, which reveals another key. I reach under my bed, grab the other giant box this time, and use the second key to unlock it. I put the key back in the box and in my trunk. I opened the other box and pulled out my diary diary. I had started locking it up since people started to steal it. My Mum had placed a spell on it so no spell can open it. I opened the book to a new page and wrote my daily entry:
Dear Diary,
Today is the last day before Summer break. I really haven't been looking forward to it. My parents died on our Christmas break when my home went up in flames, so I have no family, no home, and only 10 galleons till I turn eighteen in six years. Professor McGonagall has been very kind and said I can stay with her until I find a home with friends or distant relatives or when I am old enough to inherit the money my parents left behind for me. McGonagall has always been so nice to me. I guess that's why I like her so much. She's kind and caring, and she was there for me after my parents died. I may always have the burn marks of the fire, but she healed me up as best she could.
Love Always,
Y/n Y/l/n
I sign off, back up my Diary and put it in my trunk. I lay down and soon drift off into a peaceful sleep.
When morning came, I was woken by the sun streaming in through the blinds. I get up and dress in a beautiful black dress, slipping on some red shoes. I brush my hair and go down to the Great Hall for breakfast. I dish up a minor plate of Bacon and Eggs. I haven't been eating much since my parents died. I ate a small amount of what was on my plate, then went to my dorm and brushed my teeth. Everyone else would be leaving at about 10, so we had 2 hours till they left, and I was expected in the DADA room. I head out to the Black Lake. It's a lovely day today. The sun is shining. Today is going to be a good day.
---Time skip---
A few hours passed, and everyone soon left. I grabbed my trunk and went to the DADA classroom. Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore.
"Good Morning, Professors!!" I greet them both as I enter.
"Good Morning, Miss Y/l/n" Dumbledore greated.
"Y/n, please call me Minni. The professor is way too formal. Now, let's be on our way." With that, we went to McGonagall's home.
