I posted one of these for Michael Gambon this time last year. Exactly a year later, we are saying Farewell to our beloved Maggie Smith.
Maggie's portrayal of Mrs. Agatha Docherty in Nanny McPhee and Professor Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter were not just roles but iconic characters that will forever be etched in my memories. While I didn't list all of Maggie's roles, she played these two, which are the two that I grew up with. In my early years, I watched a lot of Nanny McPhee. Then, when I hit double digits, Harry Potter became everything.
Maggie Smith inspired everyone through her many roles. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her and by us, the fans of Harry Potter. She is and will always be Minerva McGonagall, so shall we raise our wands for our fallen friend.
I hope she is reunited with the cast members who passed before her reliving their glory days.
Rest in Peace Maggie Smith!
