(WARNING!! MENTIONS OF MURDER, MURDER OF A YOUNG CHILD. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.)

(Y/n's P.O.V)

When I finished at Hogwarts, I decided to become an author; I went to study at the ministry until I was finally ready to become one. Today was my first day on the job. On my first day on the job, I found myself going home.

When Hogwarts had reported that a murder had taken place, a child had been killed; no one saw who did it or heard the spell be muttered until it crashed through the window of the Herbology classroom and hit its victim.

My co-workers called a meeting and assigned us each a job:

"Y/n, you go with Harry and Billy. Harry, can you take her on your broom and explain." Harry, who sat across from me, nodded.

I have more than a little crush on Harry.

We made our way out to the brooms. Harry headed straight for his broom, and I hung back, unsure; you could only get onto someone's broom if invited. (I know how that sounds, and it got me cracking up laughing, so I'm leaving it in)

"Come on, we have to get going," Harry called as he hopped on.

I awkwardly walked over and climbed on, holding tight to Harry's waist.

"This is Chelsea; she was in her fourth year. She and her classmates, including Lucas, Emma, and Abigail." As Harry explained, he passed back a folder with pictures of each of the students., I recognized Lucas and Abigail, children of some of my old classmates.

"They were in Herbology when the spell was shot," Harry explained.

"So the spell could have been for one of the kids outside or one of the other three closest to the window?" I asked.

"Correct. Billy will search the grounds while we go to the scene." The broom started to slow as it began to land

When he stopped the broom, he turned to me.

"Take a moment before you come in." He turned, magicked his broom away, and headed for the entrance.

I ignored him and followed behind him as Billy also landed.

"I'm fine," I assured him when he turned to me with a questioning look.

He walked over to the Aurors standing guard at the gate, who opened the gate and let us in.

"Harry, Y/n, how good to see you two again; I'm sorry it is for such a horrid reason." Professor McGonagall greeted us.

"Hello Headmistress!" We nodded back

"Might we get straight to work, Headmistress McGonagall?" Billy interjected.

Nodding, Professor McGonagall led us to where the Green Houses had been quartered off.

"You know where you're going? Is there anything else you need?" She asked.

We made our way to Greenhouse three. A young boy runs up to me, my nephew.

"Hey Pete, I'll chat with you in a bit. I have work to do," I promised him, hugging him.

"You didn't tell me you had a son that went here?" Harry questioned.

"I figured the bosses already knew, so if they thought it would affect the case, they wouldn't have put me on it. Besides, Pete isn't my son; he is my nephew, a third year, and my niece is First year." I shrugged.

As we reached the door, I breathed before pushing it open. I was sure I would be prepared for the sight... I was not.

As I walked around the corner, I was confronted by the sight of blood all over the floor, walls and windows.

I turned away from the sight, clenching my eyes shut, but found that I was planted into something hard. It seemed that Harry had walked in right behind me, and when I turned, I had ended up in his chest. His arms shot up to wrap around me.

Fireworks shot up my arms and back where his arms touched me. His arms lingered before a door opened, and his arms dropped as I quickly spun around to face the newcomers.

"Neville, Victor... Luna!" I ran over to the three Professors and hugged them.

Luna was my best friend while I was at Hogwarts. She is now the Professor of the Care of Magical Creatures.

Harry cleared his throat, making me step back and look down sheepishly.

"Sorry," I muttered my apologies.

"Professors, I would like to speak with each of you individually. Do we have any space we can use?" Harry asked.

"The office spaces!" I piped up, pointing behind him. "Sorry"

I had learnt by now that I talked too much, and what I might think as a helpful comment often needed to be revised.

"That will do perfectly!" He smiled at me

It was a simple gesture, but it sent butterflies through my stomach. As he and Neville made their way into the office for questioning, I made my way over to the actual crime scene. The window was shattered. It appeared the spell had come from the Forbidden Forest to the left of the Greenhouse just after the lake.

"What have you found?" Harry asked, coming to crouch next to me.

"It would have taken two spells to smash the glass and then hit Chelsea. The spells appear to have come from over there as the glass shards fall this way." I pointed to where the shot had to have come from.

"That seems about right." Billy agreed, walking in.Billy pulled out his wand.

"Appare Vestigium." Billy swished his wand as a gold stream emerged from it, trailing around the room, revealing the scene of what had taken place only hours ago.

I resisted the urge to bury my head in Harry's chest again. It wasn't long before we headed off. Billy left first, but I turned to Harry as we left the building.

"I think I may need a moment." I had been holding back tears since I had seen the scene.

"Take your time." He nodded.

I walked towards a set of trees, pulled out a photo book from my pocket and looked down at the photo of my little ones... well, my sisters', but they were everything to me. There was nothing special about Chelsea and her family; what if this wasn't a one-time thing?

The tears I had been holding back trickled down my cheeks silently. I cuddle my photo book, praying my babies would be okay. Harry seemed to have noticed my discomfort. As he made his way over, sitting down next to me. Needing comfort, I wiggled closer and dug my face into his shoulder. Harry wrapped his arm around me and patted my back.

"Where are we going now?" I asked.

"To the Ministry. We have to fill everyone in; Billy collected strands of magic that need to be tested." I nod in reply.

We road to our main office, which I had only been to a handful of times. We got off the broom. Instead of leading me to the main entrance, Harry took me around the side where Billy awaited us.

"It took you long enough!" he exclaimed as we approached, turning to the door and disappearing into it.

"Welcome to the Auror office, the heart of our operation!" Harry said as he approached the door, opening it and gesturing for me to go first.

I quickly made my way in, following Billy. I heard the door close behind me as Harry made to follow me. I looked around the room as if you can call it a room; we were in a large, dark corridor. There were a couple of photos on the wall; black and white images were joined by newer coloured photos, all depicting the same thing: a brave man or woman looking very heroic.
