-Niall's POV-

"Niall, mate, don't worry about her. She got her mom with her now. She'll be fine." Liam said as he put a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, besides it's not really your fault." Zayn pointed out while taking a bite of his sandwich. He was right, it wasn't my fault. There was no way I could have stopped her. But I couldn't help but feeling somewhat flattered. I mean, everyone says they'd take a bullet for the one they love, but Hayley didn't even know me on a personal level yet she literally took a bullet.

"Yeah, I know. I just can't help but feeling guilty about the whole thing." I said between swallows. The boys nodded in understanding. "I wanna stay with her.." I thought but when all the boys stared at me I noticed that I had said it out loud.

"Well," Liam started, "you better bring that girl some food."

-Hayley's POV-

I guess I fell asleep because when I opened my eyes my mom was gone along with my trash from lunch. I squirmed in the uncomfortable hospital bed. I was still dressed in the backless gown and I was dieing for a shower. I decided to listen music and update my Instagram. I started to sing and dance a little when 'Rock Me' came across on shuffle.

"Hit the pedal, heavy metal show me- oh shit! Niall." I could feel my cheeks burn as I removed the ear buds and closed the Instagram. "You could have knocked." I laughed trying not to come across bitchy.

"And miss out on that beautiful performance? Naah, I'm good." He was laughing pretty hard now and I couldn't help but join. I invited him to sit down while watching soccer on the TV. His blonde quiffed hair exposed his fully blue eyes. As he handed me the jello he had brought I felt my fingertips brush his, sending a stream of warm up my arm and down my spine. I watched the TV as I devoured the small container of strawberry jello. I turned my head slightly to see Niall smiling at me out of the corner of my eye.

"I don't have something all over my face, do I?" I asked wiping the area around my mouth. Niall shook his head and returned his attention to the game.

We sat there for over an hour talking about the game and our love for food. Niall cracked a few jokes which resulted in uncontrollable laughter. He truly was the boy in the x factor video diaries. I couldn't remember the last time I laughed so much. Hell I couldn't remember the last time I was actually happy.

"So," Niall said, "I have a question for you."

I looked at him for a little bit before telling him to continue.

He hesitated before looking me in the eyes. "Why isn't your mom here? What is it with you two?" He asked softly while messing with back of his hair again. It mus have been obvious that I was caught offgaurd because he quickly said nevermind and that he shouldn't have asked.

I adjusted myself to where I was on my side facing him, propping my head up on my hand. "It's a long story. How much time do you have?"

His attention exchanged from the TV to me once again. "As much time as it takes." He replied with a smile.
