[Correlates with Chapter 44-46 of Fell For The Criminal. Book 2]
We are finally back home. We have been sitting on the couch just talking about the trip and plane ride. The crazy jet lag too.
"Thank you" She said quietly. I looked at her confused.
"For what?" I asked.
"For all you do for me." She told me. I smiled and squeezed her hand.
"I would do anything for you" I said back. She went to respond, but her phone started to ring. She let go of my hand and grabbed it. She smiled down at her phone.
"Hi Mom" She answered. "Yeah of course. What's going on?" As she sat there and listened, the smile wiped off her face. She started to look so sad. She sighed. I wonder what's wrong. "I know Mom. I miss you so much too" She just stared at the floor. I do feel bad that she hasn't seen her mom. It's my fault. I think her mom is great, but I never wanted anyone to visit here. But I think I've loosened up a bit since her friends came here. I feel better about it. "Not at all" "Mom what's going on?" She asked in a worried tone. Her expression began to look more sad. "Oh Mom I'm so sorry. Why are you guys fighting? Are you alright? I'm so so so sorry I'm not there with you" She shut her eyes and pressed her hand against her head. "A divorce?" She asked as she opened her eyes again. They should get a divorce. He's a dick. "Don't apologize for crying Mom. It's going to be okay" Her and her mom used to be so close when we lived back there. I took her away from that. It makes me feel like shit. "I know I know" She sighed. "We can figure something out, Mom. I promise you. I'm going to call you back in about an hour with a plan" A plan?? A plan for what? What plan does she need an hour for? "I love you too" She put the phone down and shoved her face in her hands.
"What's going on?" I asked her. She looked up at me. It was almost like she forget I was here.
"My parents are most likely getting a divorce and my mom really wants to see me. She's falling a part, Jase. I-I just don't know what to do. She's so sad" She stopped talking as some tears fell.
"Hey hey don't cry" I said then quickly wiped a tear.
"She was going on about how she misses her little girl and she knows nothing about my life and she's always trying to stay strong for me and I don't know why she is because I don't even live in the same country. She doesn't even know where I am" She ranted then began to cry more. I scooted closer and wrapped my arm around her. She laid her head on my chest. I feel bad. I feel like I have to do something for her. "Babe I have to visit her" I let out a sigh. I hope I don't regret this...
"She can come here" I told her. She quickly picked her head up to look at me.
"What?" She asked like she couldn't believe what I just said. "But you-"
"I know your mother always liked me and it's not like she's trying to bring your father or get the police on me. Well I hope not" I said back.
"No, baby. She wouldn't do this to get the police to find you" She said and I gave her a little smile.
"Tell her she can visit you" I told her. I picked up her phone and handed it to her. She smiled widely and kissed me.
"Thank you" She said before kissing me again. I think that was the right thing to do.
***
A few days have passed and I've been trying to keep my schedule as free as possible so I don't have to worry about any gang stuff while Mackenzies mother is here.
I showered and changed into something nice. They should be here any minute. I'm not nervous, but I am worried she will ask questions that shouldn't be answered. She's only here for a few days so hopefully everything will go smoothly.
