[Correlates with Chapter 34-36 After The Runaway. Book 3]
"That's weird" Mackenzie said getting my attention. I saw her looking down at her phone. We've been in the kitchen for a while. We just had breakfast and Drew is playing in his playroom.
"What?" I asked her. I watched her put her phone to her ear and look at me.
"My uncle Nick called me twice" She told me then put her phone down and said, "No answer."
"Do you think it's important?" I asked.
"It must be. I mean, he never calls me" She said with a shrug. That is kind of weird. Something must be wrong. I didn't say anything to her all morning, but I woke up with a weird feeling. And now this? I should tell her.
"I have to tell you something" I said as I shook my head then took a deep breath.
"What is it?"
"I woke up with a really weird gut feeling. I don't know what, but I just feel like something isn't right. Johnson's on his way here. I called him over. I need to make sure everything with the gang is fine" I explained to her. She looked a little worried now.
"Oh no" She said quietly. Usually when I have these weird feelings, something happens. I heard the front door open so I quickly walked out of the kitchen and to the living room. I heard Mackenzie behind me.
"So I asked all the guys, that live on this island, if everything is okay and they all said yes. I didn't tell them anything though" Johnson told me. I nodded and took a deep breath again as I thought. What could it be?
"I don't know, man. I don't feel right" I said to him. My phone started to ring so I grabbed it from my pocket. A number I don't know is calling.
"Who is it?" I heard Mackenzie ask me.
"A random number" I told her then answered the call saying, "Hello?"
"Jason?" I heard. My heart dropped. I know that voice too well. "Jason, it's Ralph." I never thought I would hear from him ever again.
"How did you get my number?" I asked instantly getting mad. How is that possible that he has my number?
"It doesn't matter, but I need you to help me with something." He said to me.
"No" I said shaking my head. This has to be a joke. I would never help him. Not again. "No I left that place a long time ago and not one person over there matters to me anymore besides my gang. I finished helping people a long time ago. You're on your own, Ralph" I snapped at him.
"Ralph?" I heard Johnson questioned loudly. I glanced at him and nodded.
"I'm not asking." Ralph said with a chuckle. He thinks he can demand me? That's fucking hilarious.
"I said no. After Alex died, you got arrested and Johnson had to take me in. You stopped caring about how I was doing. Even when you got out. Alex was gone and you didn't give a fuck about me anymore. I used to stick up for you and tell everyone how decent of a guy you were. Fuck you and your son. I'm not helping you" I told him then I hung up. I tried to take a deep breath so I don't freak the fuck out. I can't believe that just happened. It's been like ten years since I saw him. Maybe even eleven or twelve. It's been so long.
"He wants you to help him? With what?" Johnson asked me confused.
"How did he get your number?" Mackenzie asked. "Do you think this has to do with why my uncle called me?"
"Maybe" Johnson answered her. I couldn't m even answer their questions. My head is spinning. It must be going bad if he is asking me to help. But I will never help him. "McCann say something"
