"So" I heard Alissa say. We sat in silence for the past thirty minutes. I looked over at her to see her looking at me. "You and Mackenzie" She started to talk and I was hoping it wasn't going to be something stupid. "How did you guys start dating?" She asked me. I'm sure Mackenzie talked about it, but maybe this girl is testing me or something.

"I met her through Travis. And she came around the house a lot to tutor him. So I got to know her." I said back to her.

"It was nice of you to come here to be there for her." She said to me. I nodded.

"Yeah well I care about her. I'm sure no one will believe that, but I do care about her. A lot." I told her. She looked a little surprised. I looked over to see Mackenzie walking towards us.

"You guys can go home" She said to us.

"No" Alissa and I said at the same time. She smiled a little.

"Seriously you can. It's getting late. And my parents are probably going to make me sleep at home so I'm leaving soon anyway" She told us.

"Then we'll wait for you" Alissa said before I could.

"Guys no it's-" I cut her off.

"Just stop babe. We are staying" I said with a chuckle.

"Fine. I'll be out soon" She said then turned around and walked back into the room. I pulled my phone out of my pocket to see Cameron text me.

Cameron: u coming home soon? im tryna do something im bored af

Cameron: damn ok I'll see u later
______

I didn't answer and shoved my phone back into my pocket. I guess I just admitted to him that she's my girlfriend. Once I looked up, I see Mackenzie walking our way again. That was fast. I stood up and so did Alissa.

"Which one of you are driving me home?" She asked. I looked over at Alissa and she looked over at me. I looked back at Mackenzie. I want to take her home. But I guess she can decide.

"Jason can" Alissa said surprising me. I smirked.

"Alright let's leave I'm tired" Mackenzie said. We followed her to the elevator and she grabbed my hand quickly. I chuckled. We stepped in and I looked down at her.

"Scared of elevators?" I asked her. She just nodded and stared at the doors waiting for them to open. That's cute that she held my hand for comfort. We walked out of the elevator and into the lobby. We walked through the lobby in silence. We're all tired so it's normal.

"Bye Alissa" Mackenzie said as we got outside and in the parking lot. She pulled away from my hand and hugged her friend. I blocked out their voices as I looked into the woods. I thought I saw something strange. Like a person just standing there. I know it's not my mind playing tricks on me. It looked like a person. I squinted a little and didn't see anything. "Jason" I heard. I looked over to see Mackenzie standing there looking confused. I noticed her friend had already walked away. "Are you okay?" She asked then looked over to where I was just looking.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine" I said causally then grabbed her hand and started walking towards my car fast. It's late and we shouldn't just be standing out here. My gun is in the car so I don't even have it on me.
