TW, descriptions of torture, pain, blood, um..it's bad!!(Sorry not sorry😁)
Josephine has a headache, pounding relentlessly as she stares at the small branches scattered on the ground. In the woods once more. She is sure she will be fine with never going into a forest again after all of this is over.
Over.
Will it ever truly be over? Will she ever be free of everything?
Tom will be dead if everything goes according to plan. But she knows he'll probably haunt her thoughts for a while.
"Here." Evan hands her a piece of candy.
"Thanks," she says, almost too quietly to hear, as she takes the small piece of blue candy.
Evan glances at her. "I'm sorry," Josephine speaks. "For dragging you into this, for making you be on the run—"
"Don't apologize," Evan interrupts. "I chose to go with you. I knew there was a chance we'd be away from home for some time."
Her shoulders slump slightly. Regulus is inside the tent, doing something she can't see. Josie goes to say something when they both hear it.
Apparition.
Fucking Death Eaters once more.
She tucks the piece of candy into her pocket before casting a look at Evan. His eyes go to the tent.
Regulus.
Josie slowly stands up, Evan following her movements as they carefully walk to the tent, taking care not to step on anything loud.
"Regulus," she whispers near the entrance.
Regulus turns from where he stands.
"Death Eaters are here. We need to go," she whispers.
They won't have time to pack the tent or anything else. They need to run.
Regulus casts a quick glance around the tent, ensuring he hasn't left anything behind, before walking over to Josephine and Evan. She can feel the Death Eaters at the edge of the protective spells she has cast.
Josephine braces herself to run. Her injury is better, thanks to Regulus's diligent care, but it still hurts.
Regulus grasps her hand tightly as they begin to run, the Death Eaters hot on their heels once more. Josephine casts a spell behind them, causing a large explosion that sends many of their pursuers flying.
Her lips twitch into a brief smile before she turns back to Regulus. Evan isn't beside them anymore. Hopefully, he is nearby.
Josie tightens her grip on Regulus's hand as they weave through the trees. Then they hear it—a shout of pain from Evan.
Both of them stop immediately. It is only a few feet away, to their left. Without exchanging a word, Josephine and Regulus creep towards the sound.
They duck behind a bush at the edge of a small clearing. Evan is on the ground, surrounded by Death Eaters, his wand out of reach.
