Time skip, two years.
Josephine stares unblinkingly at the test in her hand.
Pregnant.
Pregnant.
Oh fuck.
She and Regulus weren't necessarily trying or anything; they've just decided to stop doing the spell afterward.
So... it's not that much of a shock that she's pregnant. Josie didn't even want to take the test, but Pandora convinced her.
She's been feeling sick.
A wave of fear courses through her, tightening its grip on her throat.
Pregnant.
She actually has to take care of a child. Her hands shake as she quickly hides the test in the bathroom. At least Regulus isn't home, but he'll probably be back soon.
Pandora no longer lives there; she's moved in with Xenophilius. Barty has his own apartment, and Evan is currently moving into that apartment.
In fact, he's probably getting some of his stuff from his room now.
Josephine quickly washes her hands before running to Evan's room, hoping he's there.
Thankfully, he is, moving some of his more valuable objects into a box.
"Evan!" Josie practically shouts as she stumbles into the room.
"Josette? What's wrong?" Evan quickly sets down the object he's holding and moves closer to her.
"I'm pregnant," she blurts out, her hands shaking ever so slightly.
Evan's eyes widen. "Congratulations..? Or condolences?"
That breaks a laugh out of her, one that's slightly watery.
Evan smiles at the sound before wrapping his arms around her tightly.
Josephine closes her eyes, trying to dispel the fear clinging to her. "Evan," she whispers.
Evan pulls back, concern etched on his face. "What if...what if I'm a terrible mother? Or I—"
"Josette," he interrupts, his tone serious. "You are going to be an amazing mother. If you can take care of me and Barty, then you can take care of a child."
She laughs, a bit more relaxed. "Yes, you and Barty are worse than children."
Evan chuckles, his eyes bright with happiness. "Congratulations, Josette," he says, kissing her cheek.
"Thank you, Evan."
Despite Evan's protests, Josie helps him get the last of his things packed up. Finally, he apparates away with another congratulations.
