TW, blood, death, small panic attack.

Her fingers toy with the dagger, slipping effortlessly into the role she needs to play.

Confident, arrogant, calm, collected.

Everything except what she truly feels in that moment.

Yet her mind slips seamlessly into character.

She deftly twirls the dagger, grateful for Hagrid's gift.

As the doors swing open, Josie maintains a relaxed posture, freezing Tom with her gaze as he enters.

Glancing at the door, Tom catches Ara's smirk before it closes behind him.

Turning back, he struggles to mask his panic.

"Come, sit," Josephine gestures casually with her dagger.

Tom hesitates, his gaze flicking to the door.

"You can't apparate," she notes with mock sympathy. "Anti-apparition spells."

He returns, a hint of a glare on his face.

"Sit," her voice grows firmer, pointing to the chair with the dagger.

Slowly, cautiously, Tom approaches, his steps deliberate. Taking the seat beside her, he straightens his posture.

Josephine leans back, scrutinizing him.

"I've destroyed your horcruxes," she states bluntly. "Did you feel it?"

Tom's reaction is palpable.

"No you didn't," Josephine observes, noting his slight tremble. "Mortal once more," she continues, undeterred. "Do you feel the same?"

"Yes," Tom replies, his tone clipped. "Bits and pieces, not all."

She narrows her eyes. "Why create them?"

Silence.

"Dumbledore compared us, but I'd never create horcruxes. They only weaken you, scattering your soul," she muses aloud.

Tom's eyes narrow. "In wartime, you learn to fear death," he replies coldly.

She understands, to an extent. Her gaze drops to the dagger in her hand. "Are you scared now?" Josephine asks.

Tom remains silent, his breathing quickening slightly.

Josephine then produces the necklace, placing it on the table with a clink.

Tom's eyes fall on it, taking a moment to recognize it.

"I had it long before you even asked for it," she says softly. "I lied the entire time."

She sees the flicker of anger in his eyes, the realization dawning on him.

"I do think we're similar," Josephine begins, grabbing the necklace from the table and tucking it back into her pocket. "Do you agree?"
