Learning...to Trust...to Love...to Feel...Again

Kara's been taking her prenatal vitamins along with everything else the doctor told her to regularly. She even brought them to work to take them with her lunch. Today she was meeting Lena at a restaurant for lunch. Her driver was already waiting for her downstairs when she got outside. "Mrs. Luthor-Danvers." He greeted as he pulled open the back door. "Thank you Hank. Do you know where I'm supposed to meet Lena? Cause she hasn't told me." Kara said. "Yes I do. We'll be there shortly." Hank replied. Kara nodded and looked out her tinted bullet proof window.

A few minutes later the car stopped outside an Italian restaurant and Hank was opening Kara's door again. "Thank you Hank." Kara said. The man nodded before getting back into the drivers seat. Kara walked into the restaurant and told the woman she was here to meet her wife. The hostess took Kara to the table, however there were two other people with Lena. Kara didn't recognize either of them and one appeared to be a little flirtatious with her wife.

Lena heard Kara approach and stood up and rounded the table to greet her. "Kara! Come sit! Madison, Julie, this is my wife Kara! Kara this is Madison and Julie, they're L Corp investors. I had to cancel lunch with them last week due to our uh...thing. I hope you don't mind them being here." Lena explained. "No Lee, I don't mind." Kara replied as she took a seat next to Lena at the table. "It's so nice to meet you Kara! Lena's been telling us all about your Pulitzer Prizes." Madison said. "Oh have you? There nothing special really..." Kara replied. "Oh darling, no need to be so modest! Especially with these two, you did incredible work on those articles." Lena exclaimed as she put an arm on Kara's leg.

"Shall we order?" Julie asked. "Yes let's! What wine do you two ladies like?" Madison asked. "Oh..uh..." Lena stammered. Kara saw this and leaned in to her. "It's ok love I'll just have water or something. You go ahead and get some wine." Kara whispered. "Are you sure?" Lena whispered back. "Of course, although...I do wish to speak with you privately after this..." Kara added. "We can go back to my office after this." Lena replied. Julie and Madison watched them whisper to each other but didn't say anything. "I'll have a glass of red wine...and a lemon water. And my wife will have a glass of lemon water." Lena told the waitress.

As everyone looked over their menus Kara realized that there wasn't a large selection of things she could eat right now. Lena sensed her hesitation and glanced at her. "Having trouble deciding darling." Lena whispered. "Not a lot of options for me." Kara replied. Lena looked back at the menu before turning to Kara. "Not a lot of opinions? Kara are you on a special diet or something?" Madison asked. "Uh..no...it's just...uh...right now I am..." Kara said. The women looked at them curiously. "Kara's perfectly healthy...it's a personal matter...so drop the subject." Lena sneered. "Of course!" Madison replied.

By the time the waitress returned Kara and everyone else at the table had chosen something to eat. "And for you?" The waitress asked looking at Lena and Kara. "I'll have the chicken parmigiana and my wife will have the grilled chicken salad, vinaigrette dressing on the side, and no croutons or cheese." Lena said. The waitress left again and Julie began speaking. "Does Lena always order for you Kara? Can you not order for yourself?" Julie asked. "I order plenty of things for my self thank you very much. Actually we hardly go out to restaurants, we usually bring our lunches with us and go to one another's offices for lunch, and at home we cook together." Kara stated as she turned towards Lena who was smiling at the blonde. "That we do. Oh..that reminds me...I took out chicken for tonight." Lena replied.

"You guys are so domestic its truly is disgusting..." Julie said. "Why is it disgusting...everyone should strive for what Kara and Lena have. I think it's beautiful." Madison replied. "Thank you! We do too." Lena replied. Julie snorted at her comment. "What? You may as well say it." Kara said. "It's just..well I don't think I could do what Lena did...especially after what happened to you Kara..it was all over the news...and then the rumors about how Lena and her family were only doing this for publicity...and how Lena married you as a charity case. I mean...it certainly sounded like she did. It was a whirlwind romance...anyone would assume that Lena was just doing society a favor..I mean...no man would want you after being violated." Julie replied. That was it. Lena saw red at the woman's comment.

Kara sensed Lena tensing up and she quickly put her hand on Lena's hand, however it didn't seem to work. "You may leave after this lunch is over. I do not care if you remove your investment from the company! I will not have anyone talk that way about me or my wife! What happened to Kara was disgusting and vile! And you will not speak to her like that. No! I've changed my mind! You're gonna leave now!" Lena snapped. Suddenly Kara and Lena's security team surrounded them. "Get her out of here!" Lena snapped at them. Kara was pale at Julie's harsh words. She began shaking in her seat as flashbacks of that day flooded her head. "Kara...it's ok...she's gone.." Madison whispered as she now sat beside her. "Kara, baby...listen to my voice...it's ok..." Lena whispered.

A few minutes went by before Kara relaxed. "Thank you Madison." Lena said. "No problem. I'm sorry for Julie's outburst...that was completely out of order. I hope we can move past this and continue discussing our investment deal." Madison said. "Of course we can. Kara...are you ok?" Lena asked looking at her. "Yes love I'm all good now. Sorry about that." Kara said. "No need to be sorry Kara." Madison replied.  Soon their food arrived and the conversation prior to it left their minds.

After lunch ended Lena paid the bill before walking out with everyone else. "It was  pleasure to meet you Kara, and I look forward to reading your next articles." Madison said. "It was a pleasure to meet you as well Madison." Kara replied as they shook hands once again. "Mrs. Luthor Danvers, back to Cat Co?" Hank asked. "Uh no Hank, I'll be riding with Lena to L Corp, and probably staying there for the remainder of the day, but thank you." Kara said. Hank nodded his head and left the women.

"Well Madison, we definitely need to get together again. Maybe you and Alice could come to our place sometime for dinner." Lena said. "Oh yes! We'd like that very much! I'll talk to her when I get home and ask her what her calendar has available, and I'll text you. I've got to get going...have a good rest of your day!" Madison said before she walked to her car. Kara turned to Lena  as Madison drove off. "That...was...uh..." Kara said. "Interesting? Gone horribly wrong? A disaster? A whole ass dumpster fire? I know.. I'm sorry Kara, I didn't know she woudl be like that." Lena apologized. "It's ok, I already didn't like her. I saw her flirting with you when I came in." Kara replied as the driver pulled up. "Come along love, let's get back to my office. I want to know how you're feeling...and I want to show you something as well." Lena replied as they slid in the back seat.
