A few things you should probably know before reading: The Palio is a horserace in Siena, Italy, which is held twice each year. Also, the cathedral of Siena is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen and is a must see if you ever go to Tuscany.

You had booked your vacation to Italy a few months ago, and when you finally flew over there, you instantly loved it. This was the second time you travelled to Italy. You were staying at a holiday park somewhere in between Florence and Siena. You had already visited a lot of places in the neighbourhood and your phone was full of pictures you had taken all throughout your stay.

Today, you had decided to go to Siena because you had heard that the Palio would be there in the evening. That afternoon, you visited the cathedral of Siena and went into some shops to buy some souvenirs for your family. After that, you bought a ticket to see the palio and sat down on your spot. It was a really nice experience, even though it was over very soon. You loved every second of it. When the palio was over, you tried making your way out of there as fast as possible. You didn't really look where you were going at all. If it wasn't for someone to pull you back against them, you would've probably been crushed by the hordes of people running through the Streets.

You took a look at your life saver when you had finally calmed down again. He looked really familiar, but you couldn't quite place who he was. He looked at you worriedly and took you by the shoulders.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, but that would have hurt if I had not pulled you back," he said. He wasn't English, you knew that for sure. Not at all even. He sounded somewhat Finnish.

"Oh no! I's no problem, not at all! Thank you, sir. I owe you big time," you said. He gave you a small smile and nodded.

"My pleasure." It was then, at that moment, when it finally hit you. You were talking to your favourite Formula One driver, Kimi Raikkonen. You must have been checking him out for over a minute since he was staring at you awkwardly when you finally realised it.

Good job, you thought to yourself, now you scared him away. "I am so sorry... I guess I just realised who you are," you said sheepishly and rubbed the back of your head. So much for being awkward.

"Ah, so you like Formula One?" He asked.

"I don't like it," you said. His expression changed from curious into unimpressed very fast.

"I love it, actually," you added quickly. His face lit up again.

"okay. Well, I'm Kimi Raikkonen," he held his hand out for you to shake. You shook it and introduced yourself. The two of you decided to chat a little further and found a nice cafe where you could talk over a cup of coffee. You got to know him even better than you already did from the internet. And he got to know you. You told him a lot about your life, since you figured you probably wouldn't get another chance for this ever again anyways.

You were really enjoying his company. He was a nice guy to be around, even if the media stated otherwise. No silences were awkward with him, they were appreciated.

By the end of the evening, when it was already pretty late, he offered to take you back to the holiday park you were staying at. You agreedv to let him take you home. You arrived there way to soon for your liking, but you tried your best not to show your dissapointment to him. He walked you to your apartment. You turned around to face him and smiled.

"I really enjoyed tonight, life saver. Thanks again, Kimi. For everything," you said.

"Again, my pleasure, (y/n)," he said, grinning back at you. You didn't really want this night to end just yet. You also didn't want Kimi to think you were desperate by asking him inside after already seeing him the whole evening. But before you could stop yourself, you let the words slip out.

"Want to come inside?" Shit, you thought. and silently cursed yourself. But when he nodded, all your fears dissapeared and they made place for a warm feeling building up. You had never been happier in your life. Yet.
