31. "I'm tired of being your little secret."

You and Lewis had been dating for about half a year now, and all this time you had kept your relationship a secret. You wanted nothing more than to let the world know about the two of you. Lewis, however, didn't want them to know just yet. When you brought up the topic, he would either change the subject or tell you he didn't want you to go through the hate you'd receive from some of his fans. He thought you wouldn't be able to handle it. You sighed thinking about it, which made Lewis look up from his phone, giving you a questioning look.
"Lewis, can I ask you something?"

"Of course, sweetheart," he replied.

"Are you embarrassed of me?" You asked hesitantly. You didn't want to sound weak, but this had been eating you for a long time already.

"Of course not darling, what makes you think that?" He replied and put his phone away before making his way over to the couch you were sitting on. "Then why don't you want to go public about us? It made me think that you're embarrassed of being seen with me." Lewis sighed and took your hands in his, "I would love to, (y/n). Really. It's just that some fans... the things they say about girls I am seen with... they are horrible. I would hate to see you upset because of people who support me."

"But Lewis, trust me, I can handle it."
He didn't seem to be very satisfied with your answer and still seemed to a little bit hesitant, which made you sigh in annoyance.

"I'm tired of being your little secret, Lewis! I am tired of not being able to hold your hand when we go out in public. I am tired of not being able to kiss you whenever I want, and I'm tired of having to hide from the cameras when we get out. I don't want to do this anymore, Lewis. Going public would make everything so much easier," you said softly. Lewis nodded and grabbed his phone from the table. You frowned at him until he told you to smile for the camera.

"We're going public right now, (y/n)," Lewis told you with a grin, which made you smile widely and wrap your arms around him.

"I love you Hamilton."

"And I love you (l/n)."
