You knew going to Singapore to watch the race was not one of your brightest ideas, but you had to see him. You had to see how he was doing without you, if he had already moved on. But talking to his father Jos to let you into the paddock was definitely the worst idea you had ever had. What were you thinking? That you could live happily ever after with him? You had never wanted it to be this way, but here you were, trying to find a way to get out of the paddock as soon as you saw that Max had been sandwiched by the Ferraris. You knew he would be here any minute now, and you didn't want him to get even more pissed off by seeing you.
Jos stopped you right in your tracks however, and dragged you into his motorhome, closing the door behind him. Well, at least someone wanted you two to talk it out.
You see, a few weeks ago he had seen you 'getting cosy' with Antonio. You had never seen him so pissed off before. Normally, that would turn you on, but in that moment you were honestly scared for your life. You didn't even get the chance to say that Antonio was your cousin because he had already told you that your relationship was over and that he didn't want to see you again.
About an hour or so later you heard voices coming towards the motorhome, which you recognised as Daniel and Max. The door opened revealing the two men. Daniel raised an eyebrow at seeing you there and greeted you politely, taking it as his cue to leave. Max crossed his arms over your chest and closed the door behind him.
"Look Max, before you say anything... Antonio is my cousin and Jos dragged me into your motorhome," you said, happy that it was finally out, "now that you know that, I should go. Nice seeing you again." You went to move past him, but were stopped by his hand on your wrist, pulling you back into the room. "Why didn't you say so that night?"
"Are you kidding me, Max? You didn't even let me say a single word before declaring that you never wanted to see me again!"
"You could have told me beforehand that he was your cousin!"
"It never came up!" You shouted angrily, throwing your hands in the air, "you know what... I shouldn't have come." You yanked your wrist out of his hand and opened the door, storming out of the motorhome, tears blurring your vision. You heard Max call out your name but ignored it. He had made his decision.
"(y/n), would you please slow down for a minute and hear me out?" Max said as he walked up to you. "I'm sorry, okay. I'm so fucking sorry. I overreacted because I thought you didn't love me anymore. I guess now that you are gone I realise that I can't do this without you," Max said with teary eyes.
You were so close to giving in to him, but you stopped yourself right on time. "You should have thought of that earlier, Max." You turned around and walked away from him once again.
"I am not losing you again, (y/n). I need you in my life just as much as you need me. Please, (y/n), please give me a chance to prove that I am not the asshole you think I am?" Max said.
You nodded shakily before pulling him into an embrace. You had missed his affection so much you could start crying right then and there.
"I promise you this will be worth it, princess. And I promise you that I will never doubt you again," Max said as he intertwined your fingers and pulled you into a passionate kiss.
"And I promise to never walk away like that again. I love you, Max Verstappen."
"I love you too, baby girl, let's make up for the lost time now, shall we?"
