Home sweet home

Niamh bounces Matthew on her hip and walks into the house. She walks into the kitchen to see her mum cooking.

Barbara turns around to see Niamh "oh Niamh, I wasn't expecting you so early" she smiles.

Matthew holds a handful of Niamh's top and looks at Barbara, "dad came to get me...did he not tell you?" Niamh laughs.

"Oh, well I'm here now" she laughs.

"Oh come here" Barbara smiles as she pulls Niamh into a hug, she pulls away and looks at Matthew "my haven't you grown" she smiles.

Niamh smiles, "oh dear he's gone all quiet" Niamh laughs.

"It's granny silly" Niamh says.

"How was your flight?" she asks as Niamh sets Matthew on the tiles and sits down on a breakfast stool.

"Tiring" Niamh says.

"Oh dear, how come?" she asks as Niamh watches Matthew crawl over to the bottom of her stool.

"He doesn't like the noise" Niamh says as she watches Matthew.

"Oh dear, so tell me what's new with you pumpkin?" Barbara asks.

"Not much, Matthew has learnt how to crawl, he's starting to say Ma" Niamh says.
"I've finished work until February well I'm not needed again until then, we went to see Joe's family last week and I'm just about recovering from a long haul of having larygitis" Niamh adds.

"Oh dear I hope your not going to pass it onto me" Barbara laughs.

Niamh laughs, "no I'm fine now, Joe was worried about me but I had a speedy recovery after a trip to the doctors" she smiles.

Niamh smiles at her mum as she lifts up Matthew, "now wee man who needs some catch up cuddles with granny" Barbara smiles, Matthew looks at Barbara before squealing loudly.

"Where's Chlo?" Niamh asks as they head into the lounge.

"Erm, I think she said she was going on a walk with Jordan and Harry" she says.

"Mum I'm going to unpack could you watch Matty for me?" She asks and her mum nods.

"Of course" she smiles.

"He's hand loads to eat so he shouldn't be that hungry" Niamh says and Barbara nods.

Barbara takes Matthew outside and sits on the patio with him "Ma!" He smiles.

Barbara smiles, "you are a little chubster aren't you?" she laughs as Matthew wriggles about in her knee.

He claps his hands and squeals as he sees a golden retriever come bounding up to him. "Ooh look who it is Matty" Barbara coos.

The golden retriever sits before it and watches Matthew who is very curious to what the dog is, "that's Molly, Matty" Barbara smiles.

Matthew giggles and reaches down to Molly. "Careful now sweetie" Barbara says.

Matthew squeals as Molly licks his hand, He wipes his face with his hand and whines.

"Oh dear" Barbara says as he starts to cry.

Barbara stands up with him and bounces him as she rubs his back and tries to calm him down

Matthew cries and kicks his legs as he wants down, Niamh comes downstairs as she can hear Matthew crying, "oh dear what's up with him?" Niamh asks.

"Not sure, he doesn't seem very happy at all" she says as she passes him to Niamh.

Niamh looks at Matthew who is kicking his legs to get down, "'Mama!" He whines which stuns Niamh.

"What did you say wee fella?" Niamh says shocked. Matthew goes quiet as Niamh's voice has changed in tone and its stunned him.

"He's getting a big boy" Barbara laughs.

She laughs and puts Matthew down "he defiantly is, gone are the days of tiny baby Matthew... Roll on answering back Matthew" Niamh sighs.

Barbara laughs as they sit down and watch him crawl off, "I hope that gate is shut" Niamh says as she doesn't want Matthew falling in the pool.

"It is don't worry" Barbara smiles.

"Since when did Molly come home?" Niamh asks as the dog wasn't there last time she was home.

"Last week" she says.

"Oh lovely, she looks fatter" Niamh replies.

Barbara laughs, "so what news have you got for me? Anything new?" Niamh asks.

"I've decided I'm going to retire next year, and just do the odd shift" Barbara says.

"Aw really? Well that'll be nice" Niamh smiles.

"I'm thinking of coming to London for a month of two and look after Matthew while your at work" Barbara says.

"Aw that'd be great, he's not a great nursery fan; hates being left" she laughs.

Matthew pulls himself up on the gate and watches Molly Clean herself, "Oh woah, Matty, daddy's missing it all" Niamh laughs.

"What he hasn't done this before?" Barbara asks.

"No not yet" she says.

Matthew squeals as he realised he can't sit down from the standing position, Niamh goes and lifts him up.

"Mama! Mama!" He whines as he doesn't want to be picked up.

"Alright alright alright" she laughs as she takes him and sets him on the floor by the sofa and Niamh sits back down again.

Niamh gets her phone out as Matthew crawls over to the coffee table, she quickly starts to record him as he pulls himself up.

"Matthew" Niamh calls and he looks over at her.

"Mama!" He squeals happily as he grabs a banana out of the fruit bowl on the coffee table.

"He loves bananas" Niamh says as she stops recording.

Barbara laughs as he puts it in his mouth "oh no don't eat that" she says. Matthew frowns as Barbara takes it off him.

"How's Joe?" she asks.

"He's good, getting on with work... You know the usual" Niamh smiles.

"That's good, no fall outs?" Barbara asks.

"Nope none" she says.

"Good to hear it" she smiles.

Niamh smiles and watches as Matthew sits back down slowly and crawls around the room.
