Back to Barbara's

A few hours later Niamh has finally been discharged, an hour before Barbara had taken Matthew home for some lunch.
"I can't believe we're actually taking her home" Niamh smiles.

Joe smiles "it does feel weird, I've booked the flights for Friday... hopefully we can settle properly with her then" Joe smiles as he strokes Niamh's side.

"Well have to bring her into work" she smiles.

"Well my work... you've got no work" Joe chuckles.

"Technically I haven't actually left" she smiles.

"Really babe? they wrote you out again... next time they'll kill you off" he laughs.

"Well anyway I've got that meeting about strictly next month" Niamh smiles.

"I know you've been looking forward to that" he smiles.

She nods and alters Maisie's blanket slightly as Joe goes to lift her off the bed.

"Right let's get back" Joe smiles as they head back to the car.

"It was nice of my mum to leave her car for you to drive back... lucky your insurance allowed it!" Niamh smiles as she watches Joe carrying the car seat.

"I know could of been awkward with everyone" Joe says and manages to strap it in.

Niamh smiles and gets in the car. Joe shuts the door carefully and gets into the drivers seat.

Joe drives back to Barbara's house and parks the car outside.

Niamh gets out and watches Joe carefully lift Maisie out the car in the car seat. "Looks like Chloe is back" Niamh smiles as she notices a car with English plates.

"You can surprise her" Joe smiles.

"Right pop Maisie down on the step and I'll carry her in" Niamh smiles.

Joe puts Maisie down in the seat and Niamh unclips her and carefully scoops her up.

Niamh carries her in, looking around to see where Chloe is.

Barbara smiles as she looks up from her knitting, "Chloe? Come here a second please sweetie" Barbara smiles.

"Are you ok?" Chloe asks as she walks over.

Barbara gestures over towards the door, Chloe turns around and looks at Niamh. She stares for a while trying to register it.

Niamh smiles as Chloe starts to realise. "What! When... where... how... I mean I didn't even see you that long ago" Chloe laughs as she walks over.

She looks at Maisie in Niamh's arms and smiles. "Oh look" Chloe smiles.

"Maisie this is your auntie Chloe" Niamh smiles as she bounces her slightly.

"Ah Maisie, look how tiny you are" Chloe coos.

Niamh smiles "would you like to hold her?" Niamh smiles.

"Niamh that's a stupid question" Chloe laughs as Niamh passes Maisie to Chloe.

"Oh my, she's even tinier when you hold her, oh Sis... she's gorgeous. You did well" Chloe smiles.

"Thank you, so glad she's here" Niamh smiles.

"She was early right?" Chloe asks.

"Yeah, only three weeks" Joe replies.

"They checked her over but they said she is fine and wouldn't need incubated" Niamh smiles.

"That's good. God she's smaller compared to what Matthew was... and well Jordan tore me in half" Chloe laughs as she sits down carefully.

"She's got the smallest hands ever" Niamh smiles as she looks over.

Chloe nods and smiles happily. "Matthew was telling your dad all about her, he's taken him to the shop at the moment" Barbara speaks up.

"I wasn't sure how he would react to her but he seems like he's got his head round it a bit" Niamh says.

"That's good" Chloe smiles.
"God knows how Jordan would react" Chloe giggles.

"I'm sure he'll be alright but don't think about that until it happens" Niamh laughs.

Joe smiles and sits down and pulls Niamh onto his lap. "Ouch! Joe please be careful... fresh stitches" Niamh winces.

"Sorry I'll be gentle" he smiles and strokes her side.

Chloe smiles at Niamh, "stitches I'm gathering?" Chloe asks.

"Yep... ten beautiful stitches. She literally tore me in half" Niamh chuckles.

"Oh wow, lots of rest for you" Chloe smiles.

"No rest for the wicked" Joe smirks as he strokes Niamh's hip.

"No, not for a while" Niamh laughs.

Joe sits there quietly hugging Niamh as Chloe and Barbara have cuddles with Maisie. "Joe's got us a flight for Friday" Niamh smiles.

Barbara nods and she sits holding Maisie, "that's good, I can come back with you? If you want a hand with Matthew" Barbara suggests.

"It might be helpful, you could come for the first week if you can" Niamh says.

She looks at Joe and he agrees. "Yeah the week would be helpful" Joe smiles.

"I'm sure Matthew would love having you around" Niamh smiles.

Barbara nods and smiles down at Maisie "and I'll get time with you won't I?" She coos.

"Mum... you have to pay attention to Matthew too, you can't just ignore him" Niamh replies.

"I won't, but when he's at school I'll have to sneak in a cuddle" Barbara smiles.

Niamh nods and cuddles up against Joe. "You okay?" Joe mutters against her ear.

"Fine just a bit sore" she replies.

"Okay" he kisses as he kisses her cheek.

"She'll be hungry in a bit" Niamh smiles.

"It has been a couple of hours" he smiles.

Niamh gets up and walks over to her Mum, "I better feed her now" she smiles.

Niamh takes Maisie and goes to sit back down with Joe.

"Do you want a small blanket or anything to cover up?" Barbara asks just in case Niamh doesn't want to be shown up.

"You got a little one please" Niamh smiles.

Barbara quickly fetches Niamh a small blanket and comes back. "Here you go, now would you like a cup of tea and some cake?" She asks.

"That would be lovely thank you" Niamh smiles.
